A small thing I have to point out:
Researchers who have completed work with SCP-2216 are to be debriefed and administered Class-C amnesiacs before leaving the premises of Site-19/2216.
'Amnesiac' is supposed to be either amnestic or amnesic. Slipped me up the first couple of times as well.
The concept of fucking up reality by punching holes where our self met our other self sounds fucking awesome.
The execution, however, feels muffled under the weight of testing logs and unnecessary notes that turn out to be redacted anyways.
Living the dream, or dreaming the life?
Part of that is the fact that I'm not done with the additional documents. I'll be including them as separate pages but I haven't finished the writing. For now I thought the core concept was okay, and I didn't really want to wait and risk having to change all the SCP-XXXX numbers.
I really couldn't find a way to write technically as a scientific article would be written and include all the detail to get the point across. any ideas on shortening it up without sacrificing the writing style?
Edit: I fixed some things. I'm going to get the supplemental pages up tomorrow so by then it should be fully complete.
Hey guys, I could figure out how to get the secondary title? all articles are "SCP-XXXX - title here" on the listing page, can someone show me how to add the "title here" part?
You need to edit the actual List. Remove the [ACCESS DENIED] and type in your title.
Concept is solid, but the pacing really broke my immersion. A handful of lines in the Description ought to be in the containment procedures and I believe you should list the effects of viewing the entity directly after describing it, instead of writing it in at a seemingly random spot.
And if the whole world is crashing down… fall through space out of mind with me.
I chose to introduce it, but list it's anomalous effects after describing SCP-2216-2. It seemed to flow better to not say, "here's the entity and here's the scary thing it does, it's found on these tapes" just seemed better to describe it briefly, then where it's found, then what it does. idk, maybe differences of opinion, any suggestions?
edit: i looked back and made some changes. I just don't see anyway to accurately describe the creature and effects without the length that it's at. any suggestions are welcome.
I like the idea, but the text is thick and not very entertaining to read. It felt like pushing through molasses to get to the matter. An edit for conciseness and clarity would be in order.
Also, if it's as prevalent, dangerous, and uncontainable as I'm getting the impression - with those double digit percentile redactions - it stands a chance for reclassification to keter.
I always understood that safe was something that was reliably contained if procedure was followed, keter was something aggressive that actively attempted to breach containment, and euclid was everything else. I didn't want to give the impression of SCP-2216-1 as actively hostile toward humanity.
Keter-class items don't have to be specifically hostile toward humans. They don't even have to be sapient. There really isn't a strict set of criteria, but in my time here I've seen that they generally should fail the locked box test and have very significant consequences (not necessarily "everybody dies." It could even be something like "everybody forgets how clocks work.") They can also be poorly understood, making it difficult to be certain whether it is being fully contained. But that's just my understanding. Others may interpret it differently.
The final note still being redacted was a bit of a letdown. This is a nicely creepy setup, at least, but nothing really comes of it. (Can't figure out what's in that second camera image, either.)
That was kind of the point of the image; enough to be something but not enough to be descript. The final note is going to lead to a document I haven't finished yet but I wanted to post this article before the 2216 number was taken. silly reason I guess, but hindsight is 20/20
Yeah, that wasn't a good idea. Can't post an incomplete article and expect it to have the full effect.
that's fair, I had just already written everything with the 2216 designation and didn't want to wait to change it.

Normally, I'm all about being thorough in my skips, often to the criticism of my peers. This, however, feels bogged down. I like this. However, I feel like it needs to be pruned a great deal to be effective. I found myself wanting to skim. This needs more punch.

I completely agree with you. when I first put it up for criticism, that was the first comment, that it was so long it was ineffective. I'm just not sure how to make it shorter while maintaining the core concept.
I think I can remove the video descriptions, and describe the applicable ones in the test logs. but otherwise I'm not sure how to handle this.
edit: take a look now, I think I streamlined it a little bit.
Please do not add nonexistent tags, such as "video" and "entity". Leave that to staff, if you don't know how.

This is such a very long article, for so very little payoff. It essentially amounts to "Spooky time people kill you if you watch them for too long."
It started off promisingly, but I started saying to myself "Okay, I get it" over and over, as the wide range of confusing logs and notes were either redundant or conflicting, to the point in which I lost most of my interest. By the time that I got to the end, there was nothing there to keep interest. The ending consists of two pictures that simply validates something that you already said earlier.
I was expecting the article to go out with a bang, but this one just kind of fizzled out.
