Forgotten Memories

Does anybody remember a time before remembering? A space without ideas, a void of concepts; this is the world of the Margins, a dimension outside of our noosphere, outside of what we can conceive and perceive. A place of lost, hidden, and dangerous knowledge. Can an idea kill?

The better question is how can we kill it first.

Book One:

'Absence'

Dating is hard when you're queer. It's even harder when you're trans. Dating is almost impossible when facing the threat of an unknown, existential danger.

None of that will stop Heather Garrison and Lillian Lillihammer.

This is a story of love, loss, and the fight to be yourself in a sea of normalcy. This is a story about unseen foes, forgotten dangers, an existential nightmare, and the terror of intimacy. But most of all?

This is a story about a name.

[COMPLETE AS OF FEBRUARY 4TH 2025]

Intermezzo:

'Welcome to SITE'

A name may have been lost, but the story is not over. The die has been cast, and now all we can do is watch where the chips fall.

Watch, as the world of Forgotten Memories grows ever-wider, and the dominos are once again, reset.

The Garrison Test

by QueeriousQueerious

Heather opened her bottom drawer, and removed a shape, covered in a black velvet cloth. She placed it on the table, and removed the cover; a glass box sat, hinged, with a lock on the front, clamping the box together. Clearly visible, as if suspended in the void within the box, was a small, black, leather sphere.

Retrocausal Provenance

by QueeriousQueerious

Charlie Marcarcus preferred the finer things. Now, that wasn't to say that he would go for such boorish things as, say, caviar, diamonds, your standard nouveau riche trifles — no, Mr. Marcarcus had far more elegant tastes. Now, say, caviar harvested from the belly of a Solar Whale? Lucent Diamonds, harvested from the rings of Saturn? Those were the fineries that he desired; but more than anything, he longed for recognition.

Marking Her Territory

by QueeriousQueerious

"Here, right now? We are something that cannot be replicated, not a product of 'fate'. We are our own people, choosing who we want to love. And I chose you, Heather Garrison."

Selling an Idea

by QueeriousQueerious

Marginalia is short on cash, and needs to make rent. Where else does she turn, but the speakeasy-cum-marketplace for idea thieves, concept vendors and more! Of course, it's never that easy, now, is it?

Clouded Judgement

by QueeriousQueerious

Heather Garrison and Lillian Lillihammer haven't spent any quality time together in months, and between directing SITE, Omnia, and the wider staff, things have gotten out of hand.

They deserved a night off, just to get high. What could go wrong?

Queerious' Proposal - Project SEXTANK

by QueeriousQueerious

The following proposal documents the Foundation's attempt to weaponize the ontological manipulation of a single anomaly via induced consensus shifts, resulting in localized cascading reality alignments.

What Is This?

Forgotten Memories is a canon about diverse characters, the struggles that come from being different and excluded, and the struggles to find and maintain their place in a world that is hostile towards them. Forgotten Memories explores stories about love, loss, intimacy, and not fitting in — and despite all of that, the people who try to make the world a better place, even just for a moment.

It delves into the world of 'The Margins', a conceptual space between the Noosphere and Reality — a place outside of existence, where only abstract concepts and lost souls dwell. The Margins leak and bleed through into our world all the time; and sometimes, what comes through just might end the world. Forgotten Memories spans scales, including stories of massive ramifications, and minor ones, focused on the minutiae of the lives of the people who are just struggling to make it through the day.

Forgotten Memories is split into two sections: the main flagship book, and other assorted works.

The main Forgotten Memories storyline begins with Book 1: 'Absence'. This is a story about Heather Garrison, a new transfer to Site-43, Lillian Lillihammer, the M&C Section chair at Site-43, and their misadventures together against the lurking shadow of 'absence'. Forgotten Memories is a romantic Foundation epic that will leave the two women forever changed. As of Feb 2025, the first book is now complete!

Outside of the main storyline, however, this canon is fully open for contribution, and you have the freedom to take it in any direction you would like! Any work that is focused on the themes mentioned above, that focuses onto the human aspect of the struggle are welcome. For more details, check out the Setting tab in the Writing Guide!

Core Cast

Heather Garrison

{$caption}

Yep. This is the girl you fell for, Heather. You fell in love, so now she's your problem.

A tall, slender woman with dark sweeping hair that rests on her back in loose waves, her body molded through willpower, time and hormones. Transgender, lesbian and loudly sardonic, Heather Garrison is a Foundation Researcher specializing in ontological memetics — the study of memetics as they relate to larger concepts. Impulsive, flirty, and driven, Heather has fought hard to get recognition in the Foundation. She has finally found a respite from unending monotony, here at Site-43.

Lillian Lillihammer

"Look, I don't know how many times I need to give this seminar, but here we are again. Maybe this time you'll all learn something, and we won't need to have another fucking seminar, alright? So let's talk about proper safety around unknown memetic hazards."

Intimidating, brilliant and a bit of an asshole — everybody knows of Dr. Lillian Lillihammer, and she sure hasn't forgotten about you. She won't know your name, but she can still hold a grudge. Dr. Lillian Lillihammer is the Section Chair of Memetics and Countermemetics at Site-43, and an unparalleled expert — she is arrogant, but deservedly so. A force of nature, she would do anything to protect those closest to her, especially Heather.

Characters From the Margins

Luca Armaros

"Stories are delightful, I'd love to be part of one, one day!"

Living subtext and Site-19's Literary Sciences Specialist. Luca met Heather early on during her time at Site-19, and took her under his literal wings. They are still good friends, and keep in touch. Luca is one of few researchers to actually read fiction, as well as proudly holding the title of Meri's uncle and her only well-adjusted male Guardian.

Jay Everwood

"Call me Jay. And call me they."

Groups of Interest specialist and Site-55's Director of GoI Research. Jay spent their early years of the Foundation at Site-19 while working on their Foundation PhD in external communications. As of March 2023, they are dating 17-time PhD holder and immortal being Ilse Reynders. Their expert communication skills often help pull the Foundation out of trouble, and even more often, help their troubled partner.

Hana Thompson

"I need to make sure that this— that you are real."

SCP-6317, Noble Knight, Memetic Mess. Hana met Heather by chance in Site-19 where they bonded over a nighttime swim. Now the two talk mainly about normalcy, their memories (or lack thereof), and girl trouble.
