The storm is calm for now. It rests a distance away from me. I must get moving again, I can hear the creaking of the house in the light breeze. I have found a thick green tome beneath the uprooted floorboards which I will be taking with me.
The journey may be treacherous but I shall not let this island's fauna best me.

The writer certainly has an emotive style. You can really feel the anger he was trying to portray. Something about it feels… familiar.
Anyway, I am gaining a small distance on the storm as it lingers over where it subsided. I hope to find food soon.

How can anyone compare to this. Let alone me. Regardless, the hunger rages on. I have yet to find another source of food or sustenance… The storm appears to be bubbling back to life. I have created a great distace though, so I should be fine for now, just got to keep moving.
I can't keep tripping on these stupid thoughts vines.

I reread the journal I stole, I keep doing so. How can I be the successor to this? What cruel fate does the universe want to fall upon me? How can I live up to the wrath?
The storm draws near yet again as I approach new ruins.
I'm running out of ink, might have to wait a while before making the next entry.

It has been a rough week, truly. The storm rages on and I have rarely been able to find shelter, let alone food. This flimsy brick facsimile of a home won't hold much longer. I'll likely have to run through the turbulent night. Anyways, recently I uncovered a journal. From what I can gather, it used to belong to someone like me roughly a hundred years ago.
It's just… anger. All the way through. I can only imagine what they went through to make them like this… but… if they were truly like me… I can gather what drove their wrath. The worst thing about it however…
Is that they completed more than I have in twice the time.
It still gnaws at me as I write this. If only there was someone who could listen to my pleas. Alas, god left me long ago.

I did not die.
After I collapsed from exhaustion, I was awoken by a mysterious figure, physically resembling a 40 year old woman, in vibrant pink clothes and presented a large meal of waffles and sausages (which I quickly devoured). The figure watched on as I ate with a soft smile on their face.
It was only once I had finished devouring the whole hearty feast, the figure began to speak.
"Hello," she began. "My name is Dr. Pearl Neptunia Langstrum. Its a pleasure to meet you."
"Hey," I responded simply. Making sure to keep my distance.
"What's your name?"
"I'm Nobody to you."
"Fair enough. Well, Nobody, might I ask what you were doing all the way out here?"
"I…" I hesitated, but she did not seem like a threat and so I spoke. "The storm."
"Ah, that stupid thing," She sighed.
"Hm?"
"Well, you should rest here for a bit. In fact…" The woman reached behind herself and retrieved a small vial of purple liquid. "Drink this."
"Seems wrong." I said as she placed it in hand.
"Simple medicine. No tricks." She smiled. After a few seconds I drank it and it all went black. When I awoke, I was in the same room, but the woman was no longer there. I looked around and determined that a day must've passed. I will be confronting her post-haste.

That was an… enlightening talk. Right after I finished the previous entry, I exited the room, wandered down the stairs and entered into a bigger chamber, where the woman from before sat reading a thick clothbound novel.
"What did you do to me?!" I shouted. She didn't appear shocked, simply closing her book and standing.
"Well, it worked."
"What did?!"
"The medicine." I was so caught up in it, I hadn't noticed how much healthier I felt. I took a shallow breath.
"What is this place?"
"Long story."
"A summary… please?"
"Sure." The woman placed her book on her chair and walked towards me slightly. "This place used to belong to a very bad person, but since he died it's fallen into disrepair. Me and my wives realised it needed to be upkept, so I travelled out here and started the work of upkeep and repair."
"How can I trust you?" I asked, trying to wrap my head around it all. She smiled.
"Point to two things in this room and I'll give you the guy's file on them." I stared at the woman, who simply stared softly back.
"…Fine." I scanned the room. "That liquid you made me drink and that glowing chainsaw thing."
"Sure thing!" She upheld her word. I have attached photocopies below.

DESCRIPTION: Originally contained at Site Asclepio, this particular anomaly was produced by Febris Pharmaceuticals with the hopes to act as both a numbing agent and a deadly, poisonous liquid. These hopes seemingly led nowhere as when it arrived in Foundation possession, it had similar properties to SCP-500, although weaker and slightly destabilising local Hume levels in high dosages.
ACQUISITION: I retrieved it, and all the other known stock of the item, in hopes of figuring out a way to replicate it. If I can do that, perhaps I can make a version that has a more… permanent effect.

DESCRIPTION: Formerly in the possession of Dr. Gary Coleman, it appears to possess the ability to exorcize demons simply on touch, with a blade of seemingly indestructible variety. Currently appears to possess the consciousnesses of an unidentifiable amount of plant demons.
ACQUISITION: It was simple to retrieve, married life has made Coleman much easier to trick. Dir. Aurora Stone however… his persistence to suspicion is incredibly grating. I hope I do not have to talk to him again.

I stared at her as I finished reading, it was all I could do really. She noticed my staring and chuckled.
"Alot to take in I assume?" She asked, placing a hand on my shoulder. I nodded. She chuckled again. "Well, since you're still here, want to stay for tea? I've cooked up some good spaghetti bolognese."
"Sure."
"Yes! You get seated and I'll get the food!" She ran off after that. It was a good meal. I can't stay here too long, I need to… DO something. I don't know what. But I have to live up to my predecessor somehow.

I had a surpisingly good sleep that night. And when I woke up, I was presented with breakfast. Beans on toast. It was… surprisingly good, not the worst thing I've written this month at least. Once I was finished, I made my way downstairs again. The thoughts clouding up my head.
That's when she crossed my path, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"What's on your mind?" She asked me, like it was a simple question, some kind of small talk. I didn't realise it, but I glared at her. She flinched away slightly.
"I'm…" I turned my head away, thoughts of what my predecessor had written in his journal flashing through my mind. "Fine," was all I could manage.
"Well, wanna help me with something very quick? Then I'll let you be." She stared at me with a soft, inviting expression. I Hesiated, every instinct telling me I was just continuing to stagnate. I don't know what compelled my response, maybe it was a feeling so deep it couldn't say a word. Maybe it was some rotting part of my brain deluding me. I don't know. But I said…
"Yeah, sure."
I did not expect that basement to be so cold. Entirely empty besides from a single stool and flickering flourescent lights. Pearl placed her left hand on her hip as she pointed towards a toolbox in the far corner.
"I need you to hold that for me please." I nodded and walked over to pick it up. Seemingly while I was not looking, she moved the stool to the centre of the chamber. By the time I truend around, her entire upper body was in the ceiling. She reached her hand down and whispered (although it echoed through the room); "Could you pass me the wrench?"
"Sure." I obliged, removing it from the toolbox and placing it in her hand, which subsequently shot back up into the ceiling. After a few minutes of repeated sounds of metal hitting metal, the hand returned.
"Spare wires, should be in a bundle."
"Understood." I followed the request, placing the neat bundle of wires in her hand. Once again, it shot up into the cieling and the tinkering sounds returned. After around five minutes, the lights on the left side of the room whirred to life, no longer flickering. Pearl let out a restrained cheer.
"We're halfway there, buddy!" She shouted. I silently winced as the sound echoed. Tinkering sunds continued for another few minutes before the hand returned. "Second bundle, please."
"Yep." I did as asked and the hand shot back up. Five minutes passed aand the remaining lights stopped flickering.
"One last thing." The hand returned. "Spare batteries please."
"Understood." I fiddled through the box and retrieved what appeared to be two AA batteries, which I placed in her hand. For one final time, the hand shot up and tinkered for 2 minutes. After letting out one more triumphant yelp, Pearl descended from the ceiling, her upper body covered in light layer of dust. A moment of silence passed before she spoke.
"It's quite dusty up there."
"It seems so."
WHAT AM I DOING?, I thought, I'M WASTING TIME.
"Are you alright?" Pearl asked. I must have been pulling a face that gave my emotions away so I quickly put on the usual mask.
"I'm fine." I knew I wasn't, but what else could I have said.
I can't stay here any longer. It's turning me… soft. Yeah. Soft. It's turning me soft. I'll decide on a plan soon.

I… am conflicted.
It was late when I enacted the plan. I escaped through the window and trudged through the overgrown grass. It was just about to exit the grass when a voice called from the clearing ahead.
"You can run, but this is an island, and it's a far way to swim." It was her, twirling her long pink hair in one hand as she leaned against the tree. I sighed.
"What do you want from me?"
"Just… follow me." Pearl pushed off the tree and walked further ahead, I followed despondently. She lead me to a hill, overlooking the ocean. And the sky above… it was covered in stars, more than I've ever seen in my life.
"Woah," I muttered instinctively. Pearl chuckled.
"The night is beautiful, isn't it?" I did not respond to the question as she chuckled. "Come on, what's troubling you?"
"Huh?" My gaze moved from the stars to her.
"You've clearly got something weighing on you, your journal certainly implies as such."
"You read my-"
"I looked over your shoulder as you placed the photocopies in. You've got some good handwriting."
"I… thank you… I…" I struggled to put words together. I think she noticed as she placed a soft hand on my shoulder.
"Please, take your time." I hesitated, took a deep, shaky, breath and spoke.
"I found… a journal… from someone I think is my predecessor." I took another deep breath. "I haven't done shit since I became… this!" Another breath. "All he writes is pure wrath and ye- AND YET!" Another. "He managed to kill seventy higher ups of this 'SCP Foundation', evade the most powerful being in this universe for decades, bring several groups who existed for centuries to ruin and kill a goddamn god!" Another, swallower breath. "H-h-how can I l-live up to that? How am I supposed to live knowing all I've done is evade a hurricane?"
I couldn't speak any further, the tears broke free and silenced me. Without a word, Pearl leaned over and wrapped me in a tight hug.
"I understand where you're coming from," She said, I laughed.
"How?" I managed. She chuckled lightly and pulled away, staring out into the sea.
"Well, I'm not exactly… human?"
"…What?"
"I know I look the part, and act the part… mostly… but I'm really a Poseifin."
"…"
"A fish person, basically. Even more than that… I was the only heir to the throne."
"…Damn." I shook my head slowly, she chuckled.
"Yeah. And my dad… oh boy, still feels hard to tell people." She took a deep breath. "He… united the whole gosh darn species. All 1 billion of them."
"Woah."
"Yeah. I looked up to him. For a time."
"What happened?" Her smile slipped for a second after I let the question slip, but somehow she managed to force a fake smile immediately.
"Well… part of Poseifin biology lets us transform into a human state."
"What, how?"
"It's like a switch, not full shapeshifting. But… it's the biggest sin in Poseifin culture… to flip that fucking switch…" Pearl laughed bitterly. "Guess what I did."
"Fuck…"
"Yeah… and even though I had never hated him more, the days after were when I felt his shadow looming over me most. Even decades later, after I'd been adopted by a fabulous couple of Egyptian lesbians, after I'd spent years doing charity work and helping people, even after I became a therapist and began to help many more than I ever could've imagined… it still felt like I could never live up to him. And guess what?"
"What…?"
"I haven't. Even after basically 200 years." She laughed, more genuinely than before, shaking her head lightly.
"…How do you cope?"
"Well… I'm much happier like this then he ever was. So, there's that at least."
"…"
"Can I ask you something?"
"Go ahead."
"What's that little sign-off you do at the bottom of each entry? You know, the Japanese text."
"…It's from a song I heard a while ago, when the storm took me to Japan. It translates to "harmony spectre noise" and I don't know but it… resonated… oddly."
"Fair enough." Silence fell over us both. The stars watched us watch them for the longest time. Suddenly, Pearl stood and stretched her arms. "I'm going to go back to bed. You coming?"
"In a minute, you've given me a lot to think about it."
"Alright, goodnight!"
"Night." She walked off and I remained, staring at the staring stars. My mind raced. Even now as I sit on this bed, it races on. Obviously my feelings from the prior entries have not simply passed, but now they have a rhyme scheme.
I think I'll contemplate over the night and decide in the morning.
