About Us
Febris Pharmaceuticals (Febris Farmaceutica in Italian, also known as GoI-365) is a company founded by the Farnesi family in the 1960s, specializing in the research and sale of medicines for both sides of the Veil, using thaumaturgical knowledge passed down from the Roman goddess Febris, Goddess of Malarial Fever and Healing.
History
The origins of this Group of Interest can be traced back to the Cult of Febris, a group of serial poisoners in Imperial Rome. Led by Lucusta in the 1st century AD, their sect was violently repressed by Emperor Galba in 69 AD, and their writings, keepers of the goddess's knowledge of healing and the creation of toxins and diseases, were believed lost.
Unbeknownst to Galba and his men, the tablets had been magically hidden, remaining secret until the will of the Goddess would lead the right person to find them. Anticipating the arrival of scientific discoveries that could increase their power, in 1960 Febris created an heir, mixing her divine essence with the blood of Filippo Farnesi, an archaeologist who discovered one of her last places of worship. Having unwillingly become a pawn in the goddess's plan, Filippo founded Febris Pharmaceuticals while waiting for his son, the young Fausto, to take over.
Becoming CEO in 1989, Fausto Farnesi recovered the tablets and, after deciphering their contents, began the creation of a clinical thaumaturgy that combined ancient knowledge with new biochemical and biotechnological technologies, opening a new frontier in the development of drugs and toxins that had characterized the ancient Cult of Febris.
Given the Foundation's growing interest in their activities, in the following years Febris Pharmaceuticals consolidated its dominance in Free Port of Gorična, the largest Free Port in Southern Europe, obtaining a potentially protected headquarters from Foundation investigations from which to continue its expansion into the international (and interdimensional) market.
Goals
Febris Pharmaceuticals is primarily focused on preserving and perpetuating the essence of Febris itself—the eternal cycle of Disease and Healing. To achieve this, the company follows the ancient path of the Cult of Febris, indiscriminately creating and selling anomalous drugs and biological weapons. Provided they have the funds to commission it, a FP client can obtain a miraculous cure or a terrible plague.
Structure
Like any company, in addition to Fausto Farnesi as CEO, there are executives in charge of various departments, primarily the Research and Development Department, the heart of the GdI's activities. Given their necessary training in the use of clinical thaumaturgy, researchers and sales representatives are hired by every Nexus and Free Port. Furthermore, Febris Pharmaceuticals can count on medical personnel specialized in these magical arts at its clinics.
Settings
In addition to its Italian locations for the sale and production of standard pharmaceutical products, the FP's headquarters beyond the Veil is in Gorična, where the construction of the "Febris Diva" Clinic marked the beginning of Farnesi's covert rule over the Port.
Given their growing expansion, new hospitals and laboratories, both secret and otherwise, are planned in new nations and Nexuses.
