COMMENTARY
My very first SCP. My opinions on it are complex and have shifted quite a bit, but at the end of the day I think that my opinion settles on a muted sense of pride. It's pretty damn mediocre, the horror is mostly shock value and random bullshit go!, but I promise there's an actual solution to all its scattered pieces. A solution I have been harboring in my head for a year and a half, and one I have no intention of revealing anytime soon.
It was a remix of an old, deleted, version of SCP-666 whose concept intrigued me and I decided to have a crack at it. So basically, I was trying to make something that couldn't float in Series 1, but in Series 9, with absolutely no successful articles before that. Pretty ambitious.
Funny thing is, this article was pretty much set up for failure. I wrote it in 2 days straight, and posted it the absolute moment that I finished. No proofreading. I left it on the site with broken images, missing attribution, the title was still 'Scp 8886'. It was a disaster. And yet, it floated. Somehow. And now we're here.
"Horrible, terrifying, awe inspiring. 10/10 I am speechless."
-Fernlom, author of The Death of Dr. Fern
The Public Domain Contest was the first thing on the site to truly expose how unbelievably useless I am in any kind of contest or deadlined event. I unsuccessfully tries to write multiple iterations of an idea with Paul Bunyan's blue ox. I kinda struggled with it awkwardly until I just dropped it altogether. Mister_Toasty telling me that my dialogue was corny as hell also didn't help.
While I was still scrambling to figure out what I was going to write instead, he kidnapped me and forced me to embark on his dastardly plot to kill every public domain character. He said it was going to be an hour's worth of work at most, but we ended up busting sick rhymes for 8 days.
This was the most fun I've had writing anything for the site. It's also the thing I am most glad to have written, since it kickstarted my amazing friendship with Toasty, who remains my best friend on here.
"Fuck me this is good"

Welp, here it is. The Big One. The only one that anyone ever reads.
Fuck if I have anything to say about it. It was a dumb 1 AM shitpost that I literally have no memory of writing. And now it exists, it's at +200, and it's the only thing I'm
known for.
It's cool yeah, but I am growing less fond of it by the day. Keep the upvotes coming, I won't stop you, but I am looking to post something that would finally overshadow this. Something that I'm actually proud of.
"This article is really funny, and made my day a brighter when I found it."

This article was inspired by my extremely deep love for weird and disturbing contraptions in SCPs. The ability to dream up some insane, gross thing is a particular delight, because in the realm of the anomalous, you can go wherever.
So this is it. It is also unapologetically and extremely obviously inspired by SCP-6665, which is an absolute masterpiece and much better than this thing. Go read it!! But read this one first, please.
This article is also about being trans, and while I myself am trans, it's the other way around for me. I hope I did it justice.
"This is a really great remix of classic SCP lore and an excellent anomaly."
Animal Hospital, author of SCP-7256
This is my most significant achievement on this site, I would say.
The story starts in April (the month of the chair), when a mysterious author named Saig posts a tale called, you guessed it, REAGANPUNK. I never actually read it, embarrassingly enough, but reading the title planted this idea in my head, of a futuristic setting where REAGAN rules supreme.
This article's direction and development went to a lot of different places. The original vision was a SCP-7006-esque DnD-type choose-your-own-adventure. I would use the Table of Content feature to let the reader skip to different points on the page depending on what they choose.
It became pretty clear early on that I'd have to settle on using Twine as a more convenient and easier way to do a CYOA. HaydenSaintPascal showed me a CSS-only CYOA system in the sandbox, but I never got around to using it.
What staggers, annoys, and frustrates me about 9899 is how disgustingly ambitious the original project was. It would be like 6500, with four different paths to take, which would all be CYOAs in their own rights, of course. I went with this path for around the first half of production, during which I cut the number down to 2, and then to 1 when I sat up and said "Wait, this is fucking undoable".
After that, I dropped every character except for Braxton.
At this point, all my worrying, complaining, flopping, whining, weeping, and self-pitying I was doing made DFAstillo91 forcefully squeezed himself into production. We brainstormed a lot of amazing things, and Astillo made some very valuable additions, such as the ReagAngels and the virus that ties Braxton to Reagan's crimes. He also wrote the dramatic finale where you demolish Reagan. Would've been nice if I got to do that, but, no use whining when Astillo did such a good job.
The worst part of this, by far, was Act 3. I wrote it in one night, in one sitting, while panicking. Eventually, this panic turned into an actual panic attack, and I powered through it to finish the act. Which explains how unfinished and awful it is.
So, uh, that's the story of REAGANPUNK. It got a little long-winded.
This is the third time my complete incompetence when it comes to participating in contests and other deadlined events was exposed. This was by far the worst, and has kind of made me swear off participating in any contest in the future.
I am planning to return to this one, finish it, polish it up, and the expand it into a full canon. I have many ideas. Stay tunded
"This was an actiony, fun, bizarre, surprising story with very charming and just as badass characters, a pretty sick premise, and a good execution, not to mention the of course super cool visuals."
Anyar, author of SCP-9682
I have absolutely no memory of how I came up with the idea for this. That being said, I'm glad I did, because this is like my fastest growing SCP, and maybe even fastest growing page period.
One thing that vexes me about this one, however, is the ending. Some people love it, and think that the article would be incomplete without it, and some have said that it hinders the horror of the piece. I, personally think it's pretty good, but it's frustrating to see that the consensus of readers just can't make their mind up about it. PlaguePJP even went as far to say that SCP-5364 is "pretty much perfect", aside from the ending. Which, yknow, it's a huge honor to have your work called perfect by someone like Plague, but also incredibly frustrating.
"I find this to be pretty much perfect."1

"I lost sleep over this. Haunting."

No idea why I keep putting off the commentary for this one. It's just a metaphor for gambling. Shoutout to BlazingPie for being my captive idea audience,
Heck_Tech for pulling me together and trying to help before my bitchass messed it up, and big thanx to
BAD_DATA for dragging me over the finish line.
"It's short, sweet, viscerally effective, and doesn't overstay its welcome."

This article is essentially all Mister_Toasty and my collaborators. It's a really fascinating concept that Toasty came up with, where we would all pitch in a witness report without knowing what anyone else wrote, so I just had fun with it. No, I'm not telling you which one I wrote.
This is such a fascinating article.
