An Art? Exhibition by

Diogene_s

Could be better.

⭐⭐★★★

The Diogene_s Art? Gallery has just opened its doors to the public, with new artwork upon which you'll be able to feast your eyes.

The art world reluctantly rejoices at the prospect of enjoying once again the many works of this artist. They are well known in the art connaiseur circles for being annoying and posting their art online instead of actually settling down and doing a proper exhibition in a proper place. They declared that the previous time they tried to do one of those, they allegedly "had to stop the mobs of art critics from burning the whole place down". Although Diogene_s has described these events in extreme detail in scribbled letters sent to random civilians all across the globe, I, being a trusted reporter, haven't found any sources or actual proof of this mob of art critics.

Also, Diogene_s is apparently a penguin. But that's a secret that critics and AWCY members don't want you to know.

This new gallery is positioned in one of the chic neighborhoods of Barcelona, between fancy cafés and bookshops. According to the the artist, they decided to take over one of the art-nouveau buildings to put their frankly mediocre art, because they thought it would bring them some form of traction and/or recognition within the art world.

Because of this, we, at Waldon Studio, have decided to visit this new exhibition and review it for our audience.

Even if the art nouveau exterior tries to be fancy and fashionable, the interior of the Diogene_s Art? Gallery is as messy as one would expect of someone called Diogene_s.

For our readers' sake and out of respect for the drawings themselves, I'll go in the proposed viewing order for the exhibition.

Let's start with the first ones:

PHYSICAL DRAWINGS :

This seems to be a whole section of the gallery entirely dedicated to drawings made with pen and paper. But within it, there are, of course, subsections.

SCP Objects

SCP Mythology

Foundation Personnel

Groups of Interest

Events and locations

DIGITAL DRAWINGS

Walking past the different papers exposed on the walls and on the ceiling, there's a whole new section full of digital drawings. These ones have color in them. Let's see what they are all about.

Character Lineups

Single Portraits

GOITOBER DRAWINGS

After the last section, there's another room, which once was black and orange but now is sloppily painted white and blue. There's a lengthy explanation of what a Goitober is, but your eyes glaze over it because it doesn't have much bearing into what you do or what you feel now and the art there is sub-par in the best cases and downright horrible in the worst ones. But it's still there, so you better look at it, I guess.

SHITPOSTS

In a dark corner, there's a secret door. It would be easy to miss if it wasn't for the huge sign with glowing letters that says "SECRET DOOR". When you enter this new space, you are greeted by:

And thus, we get to the end of the exhibition. There's some kind of penguin butler, asking people to check out "the gift the Diogene_s had made for the 2023 Art Exchange" (whatever that means). When I was leaving I heard a very loud squawk. Another penguin had appeared, begging me to check out "8kon fanart page" . Turning away from the little bird, I was faced with a third one holding another sign, this time saying "Check out the the drawings for the 2024 edition of SCiPtember" while another one followed closely behind, showing me the sign that said the fanart doodles for the 2025 public domain con. I decided to run away from the penguin swarm as fast as possible.

Overall, the exhibition wasn't up to my standards. I do think that there's good artwork here, but some of it is very old and isn't up to the standards of current artwork on the anart scene. And if my background checks are correct, there's some pieces that are missing. I do think that some people could enjoy it.
