Perestroika! is an SCP-9000 entry I have enjoyed since before it was even finished. It’s about a set of Daeva fertility items that, when tied around the waist of a human who’s pregnant and a ritual performed, the fetus will be transformed into a Daevite. It was originally picked up by the GRU-P. Years later, a foundation researcher’s DNA is tested and is found… to have abnormalities.
I’m not going to describe much more. I really think you all are going to like this one. It’s haunting, and it reminds me of SCP-8980 if you’ve read that one before but it’s quite as overwhelming. I ended up drawing our main character submerged in a red liquid. I wanted it to feel like the weight of everything is too much. I kind of based this off of the poster the author, KatyaStrangelove, made for it a little bit.
I also thought it would look nice to have the hair floating by the surface, I remember seeing a drawing by an artist way way back when I was in high school. I can’t find her work again, but it was of a mermaid floating by the surface of the water with her hair just beneath the surface of the waves. I wanted to do something kind of like that for her hair. Like she can’t quite make it to the surface.
