Species of Interest-140 — Homo sapiens daeva
This file has been created and made available to personnel with Level-03 Clearance or higher at the direction of the O5 Council. Because SoI-140-01's personally identifying information is currently restricted to personnel with Level-04 Clearance or higher, it has been redacted from this document.

SoI-140-01 — INITIAL STUDY
10-18-1995
Terminology
SoI-140-01 is the designation assigned to the Daevite subject identified on 04-25-1995. It has since been given the primary designation, SCP-9140-A-0. Within this document, it will be referred to as "SoI-140-01" or as "the Subject".
Basic Examination (Conducted 10-17-1995)
SoI-140-01 is a 26-28 year old1 female of the human subspecies, Homo sapiens daeva. It is a native Russian speaker, but has reportedly been fluent in English since age 10.
SoI-140-01's height has been measured at 185 cm, and its weight at 77.1 kg. It has black hair, brown eyes, and fair skin. It has freckles and a number of benign moles on its face and body. There are fully healed scars on its forehead, upper lip, and lower left calf. Reportedly, these are due to injuries the Subject sustained as a child. Multiple lacerations are evident on its left arm and right thigh, in various stages of healing.
Due to an incident2 that occurred within the preceding 30 days, SoI-140-01 was hospitalized from 09-██-1995 to 10-██-1995, receiving treatment for severe hemochromatosis. Its skin remains mildly jaundiced, but photographs taken on 09-██-1995 demonstrate that significant improvement of its condition has occurred.
Initial Interview (Conducted 10-18-1995)
Disposition:
SoI-140-01 arrived approximately 15 minutes late to its planned interview, scheduled for 10:30. It is of note that, since it retains Level-██ Clearance, it does not have to be escorted to the interview room; meaning, its tardiness cannot be attributed to other personnel.
It is dressed semi-casually, wearing a pair of capri slacks, a v-neck shirt, and a cardigan. Its hair is somewhat messy and it appears not to be wearing makeup. Notably, the subject seems to be fatigued. The Subject apologizes for its lateness upon entering the interview room, then sits down at the provided table, across from the interviewer. Upon being asked about its conduct and disposition, it states that it had "a long night last night", and that "Admin wanted to see [it]". The Subject is asked why Site Administration had to see it at night, and it answers by stating that it does not know if it is permitted to reveal the information. was unable to sleep, due to a side effect of its medication.
Interview, Part 1:
Interviewer:
"So, SoI-140-01, there's a lot to cover today, and we're already running kind of late."
SoI-140-01:
"I told you, you can just call me █████████. [Sigh] Even the Xenobiology people I saw in the hospital could do that."
Interviewer:
"Okay, █████████, if that works for you, let's begin the interview.
First; have you ever had any suspicion that you may be anomalous, or different, or otherwise abnormal, before being informed of your status?"
SoI-140-01:
"No. [Deep breath] When I was a kid, I just thought I was ugly."
Interviewer:
"Why is that?"
SoI-140-01:
"I don't know, because I'm too tall, [Gestures to face] because I look like this. They used to ask me if someone threw dirt on my face…"
Interviewer:
"Oh…okay. [Clears throat] And, during that time, did you ever notice anything else? Like, for example, an unusual phenomenon or another problem with your health?"
SoI-140-01:
"No, I didn't — I never did until people told me. I was just living my life until now…or until a few months ago, I guess."
Interviewer:
"You seem agitated. Just so you know, this interview is solely for the purpose of understanding your species better."
SoI-140-01:
"[Air quotes] 'My species'…I'm so sick of this. You can understand that, right?"
Interviewer:
"Of course, I can understand why this is a difficult time, for someone in your position. Let's return to the interview, though. I know you already know, but you've been compelled by the O5 Council to submit to interview and non-invasive study."
SoI-140-01:
"So I've been told [Inhales sharply and crosses arms].
Okay, let's go ahead then.
Interviewer:
"Thank you, SoI-14— sorry, █████████. I'll start with some easier questions.
Your life at the Foundation before this started — how was it? Did you get along with other personnel?"
SoI-140-01:
"Usually? My coworkers and I were cordial. I have a few close friends here too.
There are some other things that have happened a lot over the years, though, like people questioning my loyalty to the Foundation because I'm Soviet, or people mocking my accent… Nothing like this. This has been a ███████ nightmare."
Interviewer:
"I remember reading that in your file. [Flips page in notebook] Next, have you had any romantic or sexual relationships while employed at the Foundation?"
SoI-140-01:
"[Looks down at the table] Uh…what counts as a 'relationship'? Like, in this context?"
Interviewer:
"If you've been on a date with anyone, or had sex with them, then that counts as a relationship. The length or level of commitment is asked in contingent interview questions."
SoI-140-01:
"[Indicates nervousness or apprehension] I, uh…I have. Oh. In that case, no, I have not had a relationship."
Interviewer:
"Okay. [Pause] If I may ask, with whom have you been in a relationship with, and for how long? why did you ask for clarification if you've never, by the broadest definition, engaged in that conduct?"
SoI-140-01:
"I don't really want to name him if I don't have to, but we've only been together once, uh, pretty recently. I don't know."
At this time, Personnel Director ███████ ████████ entered the interview room. It is of note that the Subject visibly flinched upon his entry. Its demeanor became more anxious; a change in conduct that remained evident for the rest of the interview.
Interviewer:
"Director ████████, you've been charged with managing SoI-140-01's anomaly, correct? At least on the administrative side?"
P. D.3 ████████:
"Yeah, well, I'm the one who figured out that she it was anomalous in the first place."
Interviewer:
"Oh? May I ask how its anomaly became evident to you?"
P. D. ████████:
"Don't think so. You'd have to ask the Council for that — probably half of her its case file is sealed at this point."
Interviewer:
"Figured. Are there parts of this file that the Subject isn't privy to, or has it been given full clearance?
P. D. ████████:
"[Makes direct eye contact with SoI-140-01] And can we stop with the "Subject" and the "it"? She's a Foundation researcher, it's kind of unnecessary."
Interviewer:
"It's standard protocol that I"—
P. D. ████████:
"[Interrupts] Just edit it afterwards. Here, send me the file and I'll edit it for you. Its not a big deal."
Interviewer:
"Alright, if that makes things easier…"
P. D. ████████:
"Thanks. Sorry for getting on you. It's just, as you probably know, stuff like that'll make her sicker. There's a lot that even she it isn't allowed to access yet. Honestly, I doubt they'd have shown me the incident report if I wasn't the one who wrote it."
Interviewer:
"Right, okay. [Pause] So, █████████, how's about we continue?"
SoI-140-01:
"[Quietly] I guess that's okay, I just- [Looks at P. D. ████████ expectantly]"
P. D. ████████:
"Whoops! Don't worry, I'll get out of here."
P. D. ████████ gathers his personal belongings and exits the room.
The remaining portion of this initial interview mostly concerned SoI-140-01's employment history at the Foundation. As this information is already available to approved personnel, it has been omitted from this document.
The second interview of SoI-140-01 was scheduled to take place on 10-20-1995, but, on 10-19-1995, the Department of Xenobiology Mobile Research Team was informed by Personnel Director ███████ ████████ that the subject had been hospitalized.
The rescheduled interview date is currently listed as: 10-24-1995 TBD
