Is there a way to sort content by genre?
Not at the moment, no. The closest thing we can recommend is to sort through the page tags, though they only apply to SCP's and not tales. There is an initiative on behalf of the Collections Team to sort through all tales and place them into collections based on genre and content matter, but we don't have a definitive date for when this will fully come online.
Why isn't there an integrated dark theme or the ability to switch between normal and dark mode?
The closest thing to a dark theme that is any sort of official is the SCSSP addon for Chrome.
Tale discovery is a little difficult. is there anything being done to fix that?
As previously mentioned, the Collections team is currently working on creating a curated list of tales to simplify their discovery.
I am having difficulties creating an account. What am I doing wrong?
Are you using an email with numbers or a hotmail? Wikidot has issues with those. If not, have you checked spam or searched your inbox for wikidot?
I am having difficulties logging in, even after successfully creating an account. What is going on?
If you're on Chrome or a Chromium based browser, follow the fixed logins guide.
The site theme looks outdated and ugly. Are there any plans to replace it?
At this time, we are not planning to update the general site theme. The current layout is popular with a segment of the userbase and updating would require major updates to almost all CSS themes on site.
Authors are permitted to use any theme or styling for their pages, provided they comply with the CSS Policy
If you wish to change the default theme locally, you can try the S-CSS-P browser extension, or Stylish extension (Chrome, Firefox).
I find the text too small/am having accessibility issues. Can you provide support for me?
You can configure your browser's default font size or zoom level to be visible for you when viewing the site. Additionally, you can use one of the above extensions to change the site's styling.
Feel free to reach out for more specific accessibility support in #site11!
Can't you fix the https issue?
By default, Wikidot prefers HTTP for connections. Browsers have been trying to encourage websites to use HTTPS to improve user security and privacy.
You can access the site via HTTPS using https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/
Why does the search bar not work well?
The search bar is unfortunately not something we can fix, as it is powered by Wikidot. We are aware that it is not ideal, but the easiest way around it is to use google search with focus on the SCP Wiki site.
Can you do x to the mobile reader?
We do not have an official mobile reader, as Wikidot can be read online on mobile devices.
Why does the random SCP/Tale buttons keep sending me to the same page?
The Random SCP/Tale button updates once every 60 seconds.
Is there an easy way for me to find more works by specific authors?
You can look for their author page or if they have the More From This Author module, you can look there.
Can the site be made so that the title of an SCP can be read in the article itself, not just in the series list?
Unfortunately, Wikidot does not have the capability to add metadata like titles to pages. We plan to add support for better article information as part of Project Foundation.
