Steampunk! I freaking love steampunk! This is one of my faves, and funnily enough, I was thinking of doing something similar only within the last day or so, but you beat me to it. Congratulations good sir!
So, not too much clockwork? I just love clockworks, and i read a story once, about a Chinese man who went to the emperor, to present him a clockwork man. One of the Russian czars was also obsessed with clockwork, so i just sorta filled in the blanks. I think I'm going to add more support documents too…and can you imagine him redesigning SCP tech to run on gears?
I wonder what would happen on the 1:1 setting…
Here's an interesting idea. Show him SCP-914, and have him stare at it for a while, watching it work. After about 2 or 3 hours, it says something to the effect of "It's missing a gear." If any personnel ask it if it could fix it, it would just chuckle and say something to the tune of "Why would I want to wake it up? I like the Foundation."
this is now one of my favorite ones, good job.
I think the number of gears and mechanisms in the xrays is a little low for something as complex as him.
But there's nothing you can do about that, and you're better off with the pic than without.
I like the 'modules' factor. You should list a few of the bad ones, maybe there's a
bloody mess, slayer, or "pyramid head rape" modules.
The picture is somewhat disappointing, but it's the best i could do. Plus, maybe the sheer volume of stuff could fog the x ray. I could see some bad modules, but i think he's too complex and delicate to be too dangerous. Now, if someone wound him up and politely asked for a clockwork warrior, or a key-driven battle suit…
A few questions for this one:
1) Can 172 build a module that will increase the time he's able to operate? Would there be any downside to this?
2) Is there anything particularly special about the crate he was found in?
3) Is 172 capable of creating a module that would remove his obedience?
4) Is 172 related to 914 in any way?
That's all for now.
1: Yes, but it would most likely be at the expense of other modules. He would physically operate longer, but might not be able to speak or think as well as he does now. Like putting in a second engine, you have to make sacrifices.
2: It’s large and well built, but has exhibited no odd properties. 172 seems to have some attachment to it, but besides that, nothing.
3: Possibly, but nobody’s asked him to yet.
4: Clever…yes, there is a relation. I’m still working out how best to proceed with it, but a lot of my SCP are related, even if it doesn’t seem like it.
"Clever…yes, there is a relation. I’m still working out how best to proceed with it, but a lot of my SCP are related, even if it doesn’t seem like it."
I've always thought a lot of your SCP were probably related … I mean, all the super-complex impossibly operating clockwork …
Ever since you put up SCP-217 a bit ago, I've been wondering if THAT's what started it all, or if it was SCP-914. I mean, SCP-217 doesn't seem to affect inorganic life forms … so my best guess is that 217 came from 914. Probably from the "Very Fine" setting.

Seeing just how connected they all are would be curious, of course, that would ruin the mindfuck…
That is a very good guess…it may or may not be correct, but a good guess none the less!
The inter-connectedness is something i keep in the back of my mind…not really meant to be very clear. I don't think i'll ever fully explain how everything goes together, just keep it as vague hints and passing resemblances.
Honestly, my obsession with clockworks was never meant to be a back story…i just really like clockwork. Most of this things i write are a combination of things i like and things i'm scared of…
Um, why is this Euclid? It doesn't seem to have any destructive capability, or even any hostility, so shouldn't it be Safe?
Very true, and i considered safe. However, this thing appears to be based on some form of engineering that is far beyond what normal clockworks should be able to do. I'll swap the class if people think it's a good idea, but I think Euclid it good for the moment.
Seems more Safe to me, too. Particularly considering its willingness to take orders.
I suspect that its willingness to take orders is exactly why it's classified as Euclid and not safe.
Funny that someone asked if he was related to 914, because I was thinking he might be related to 217…
