This guide has been rewritten as part of the 2014 background guide overhaul. The original version of this page can be found in archive form here.
Changes from Original Version
- The only major facility designations are now Site and Area, with the difference between them whether it's undercover or just plain secret.
- Units and Sectors are now subsections of larger facilities. This doesn't require changes in any existing articles, any SCPs referring to a Unit or Sector can be assumed to be referring to a Unit or Sector within the implied contextual facility.
- Removed Mobile prefix as it only referred to Task Forces, not facilities.
- Added Command, Humanoid, Protected, and Provisional prefixes to fold in concepts from previous definitions.
- Cleaned up all entries to remove invalid entries.
- Added, rewrote, or removed all entries.
Removed and Renamed Entries
Overwatch HQ — Renamed to Protected Site 1.
Command-¦¦ — Removed. In addition to being the only censored name on the list, this is basically the Foundation moon base implied to exist by SCP-120, which most people do not accept as canon and should not be legitimized in this way.
Sector-07 — Removed as new definition of Sector renders these entries unnecessary.
Research Sector-15 — Removed as new definition of Sector renders these entries unnecessary.
Sector-19 — Removed as new definition of Sector renders these entries unnecessary. In addition, the only SCP that actually references "Sector-19" on the entire site (SCP-1730) isn't even listed here.
Sector-25 — Removed as new definition of Sector renders these entries unnecessary. The only entry that referenced this was rewritten and the link is no longer valid.
Sector-28 — Removed as new definition of Sector renders these entries unnecessary.
Research Sector-71 — Removed as new definition of Sector renders these entries unnecessary.
G2 sites — Removed. Only referenced by 008 and 1900; 1900 used it because 008 used it, but 008 specifically mentions that G2 sites are not Foundation facilities; they were captured with help by the Russians.
G3 sites — Removed. Not only is this entry a complete lie (not a single other page on the website uses the term "G3 sites"), but the definition has been folded into that of Provisional facilities.
Site-01 — Removed. I vaguely remember that some tale or something somewhere referenced SCP-110 as Site-01, but I cannot find the reference and that's a poor reason to have an unlinked entry anyways. Designation has been repurposed as Protected Site-1.
Armed Containment Site-03 — Removed. Entry no longer fits, and really only existed to fluff one SCP article.
Site-05 — Removed. Could consider a rename to Provisional Site-05, but since this is only referred to — and used by — a single article, it is of dubious value.
Site-11 — Removed. Would be Protected Site-11 under new naming conventions, but is not actually used anywhere on-site.
Storage Site-12 — Removed. Only referred to by one SCP (SCP-1114).
Bio Site-13 — Removed. Only referred to by one SCP (SCP-1121), and should be renamed Biological Containment Site-13 if used.
Research Site-14 — Removed. The three SCPs listed either do not have anything to do with radiation, none of them reference Site-14 and one of them explicitly contradicts the entry, being listed at Site-23 instead.
Red Pool Containment Site — Removed. Naming is inconsistent with the rest of the site, and it is only referenced by SCP-354.
Site-22 (A and B) — Removed. Only referenced by SCP-036.
Storage Site-23 — Renamed Site-23.
Site-32 — Removed. Several entries exist, all of which contradict each other as to the location and nature of Site-32; the entry as it exists only supports one of them, and that isn't really good.
Site-33 — Removed. Several references exist, but few of them are consistent with each other and none of them are consistent with the description as listed here.
Site-35 — Removed. Only the listed SCP (SCP-1011) is consistent with the description; the rest either contradict or are generic uses thereof.
Site-39 — Removed. Of the four SCPs that reference Site-39, one is appropriate, one is plausible, one is somewhat implausible, and one directly contradicts.
Armed Research Site-45 — Removed. Of the two SCPs listed, neither reference this particular site, plus the site naming is also inconsistent with the new usage definitions.
Dimensional Containment Site-47 — Removed. Completely inconsistent with any usage within articles, even the one listed in this entry.
Site-57 — Removed. The entry's referenced article was rewritten without it, and all of the remaining references to Site-57 are all highly contradictory.
Site-65 — Removed. Only referenced by two SCPs, the listed entry and a passing generic reference.
Site-67 — Removed. Usage inconsistent across site; no SCP uses the site as its entry insists.
Site-71 — Removed with approval of Xiao, the original author; only two of his SCPs use this site, of which one is at +1 rating at time of this writing. Can be added back in if the designation gains more usage.
Dimensional Research Site-72 — Removed. Only two SCPs reference this designation, both are generic site usages, neither are consistent with the entry usage.
Site-92 — Removed. Entry lists only one SCP, only one other SCP references it on-site, and the two are inconsistent.
Storage Unit-03 — Removed. Units are no longer listed facilities, and this referenced only a single SCP.
Storage Unit-05 — Removed. Units are no longer listed facilities, and this referenced only a single SCP.
Storage Unit-07 — Removed. Units are no longer listed facilities, and this referenced only a single SCP.
Existential Containment Unit — Removed. Units are no longer listed facilities, and this referenced only a single SCP.
Storage Area-05 — Removed. No SCPs reference or are referenced by this facility.
Containment Area-07 — Removed. No SCPs reference this facility, not even the one listed.
Containment Area-25 — Removed. Other than one active SCP in which it is destroyed, only an ARC refers to it.
Storage Area-134 — Removed. Only referenced by a single SCP whose deletion predates the PDF Project.
Area-354 — Removed. Only referenced by a single SCP.
SCP Vessels — All removed. Each one was only used by a single SCP if at all, and it really doesn't fit the facilities page.
