Thanks to everyone I threw this at in chat. I never knew that satellite rabbits could be so hard to write!
Also: Thanks to Meserach for the original concept and Fantem for helping with the Addendum.
So glad this is back!
EDIT: though I still can't bring myself to upvote something that gratuitously invokes morse code
I'm just going to hope that the SCP-EX about Morse Code could change your mind. (Someone else is writing about why SCPs use mostly Morse Code.)
Edit: Not to sound like I have to depend on another SCP, but I can't really think of how else a satellite would communicate. I also thought that a rabbit thumping its foot could make for a good way to use Morse.
I'm really confused.
On the one hand, I don't know what's going on, which isn't altogether a bad thing.
On the other, I feel I'm getting mixed signals about where this thing was and what it's doing. It was in orbit around the moon, but it crashed? Is it still creating -1s, or has that stopped along with the broadcasts? I'm confused as to whether the containment procedures reflect its changed status or not.
They covered it up because it completely stopped doing things since it's crashing. I'll mention this in the containment procedures.
All it took was a shot of hard liquor and I've figured it out. The confusing thing was I was looking at the picture and going "How is this orbiting the moon?" The timeline of the piece is confounding, but you're getting my vote after all.
Geez, when are you not drinking? xD
Niiiiice. A non-anthropocentric SCP!
Shouldn't the Foundation be investigating that warren more, though? If it's building space ships…
I too am concerned about this warren building satellites and launching things into space that are able to grow in the vacuum.
Also, what happened to the bunny who was seen on there?
Small quibble: how can the seeds be destroyed during atmospheric descent if the moon has no atmosphere?
The plants weren't destroyed by the satellite turning into a ball of fire, from atmospheric descent. The temperature on the moon reaches 100 degrees Celsius during the day, while other parts see -173 degrees Celsius when not exposed to the sun; Not exactly the best for plants.
I really like this one! The artificial satellite has a nice, nature-y aesthetic to it that isn't done too often, and I felt really bad for the bunny on the satellite. It got me thinking about bunnies in general and especially moon bunnies. What are moon bunnies? Why are they on the moon? Who are the "gifts" being delivered to? +1
Mm Mm Good
