This is a tad too similar to SCP-1165, but I still liked it enough to upvote.
I was thinking SCP-1691, mainly because of the reversing, but it's definitely very different apart from that detail.
I have to ask: does this have a backstory? I have absolutely no idea what it could be, which is a very good thing.
It's weird enough to justify its existence, I think. Not everything has to be instantly deadly and murderous, although obviously we wouldn't want that door unsecured and opened for too long given the pressure difference, but that's part of the containment procedures anyway.
The reverse text is a nice touch, to be sure. Any plans on expanding it? Just curious where you might be going with it, if anywhere.
I love this concept and the article itself.
However, I'm actually fairly bored by the addenda. Only the canned corn and "19:30, don't forget" left a mark in my brain.
But I'm not sure if that's an issue, because I enthusiastically upvoted the article based on the main body and being bored by the addenda didn't make me want to remove that upvote. And it's not like the addenda being boring is any kind of suspension of disbelief or logic problem… quite the opposite, in fact. I think I'd love a version of this article that did more with those details even more, but this version is great as it is.
EDIT: Actually, while I thoroughly agree with Smapti that this stands on its own and is not too similar to 1165, structurally 1165 is actually a good comparison to make the point, because 1165's Survey Log is equivalent to this article's addenda. but 1165's Survey Log is thoroughly fascinating in a way that these addenda are not. However I would certainly have upvoted 1165 even if I found its Survey Log boring, and while I would be fascinated to see where else this article could go, one could make the argument that working over the addenda could backfire and perhaps feel unnecessary… So take that FWIW.
I kept waiting for something about this to stand out and be really interesting, but nothing happened. Needs a more solid/explicit story. -1.
if your reading this your gay
This, except I neutral voted. Just didn't seem to have a cohesive story, but the details were enough to make me not… actually, in writing this comment, I'm finding it more and more difficult to rationalize neutral voting so… I've downvoted. Please try to tighten this up, because it could be neat if it had an idea of what it wanted to be.
Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!
As a "doorway to weird place" SCP, it works and stands out. I thought the language was a tad verbose and convoluted… except that I had no problem understanding what was going on.
Also, if 1375-133 was creamed corn instead of kernel, it would be way funnier, just sayin'. And then you'd have that "hey, more weird stuff/oh, it's funny/whoa what just happened" whiplash happening. I will agree that the other objects could be a little more noteworthy: one to establish a reference, the 19:30 note, a couple to show that maybe something's going on here, and then -133 to make the reader go "Whoa, wait, hold the phone!"
A copy of the Evening Standard, entirely in reverse but otherwise identical to those printed on December 27, 1993.
All text is otherwise identical to actual posters with the exception of the band members, who are entirely devoid of facial features.
What about photos in the Evening Standard? Do they depict faceless people?
Upvoted because I finally realised why the tube workers kept going on strike
I wasn't particularly bothered by the objects recovered not really shedding any light on the situation. However, the thing about the faceless bandmembers was too cliche/unnecessary for me, and somehow managed to completely sour my opinion of the article.
It is kind of similar to some other articles, and the faceless bandmembers is unnecessary, but I like the mood on this article. Reminds me of Dark City.
I am intrigued and would like to know more, and that is my one auto-upvote rule.
The way the details are almost-but-not-quite consistent is what sold me. Just when I think I have a working theory about what's going on, something throws a spanner in the mental works and it all falls apart.
