Done in response to Wilt's challenge, given the tags #fungus, #ritual, and #medical and the first and last pictures.

EDIT: PLEASE NOTE I WAS BEING A STUPIDHEAD AND FORGOT THAT WILT'S CHALLENGE THINGS WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE POSTED YET. This being the case, I might delete this soon and repost it when I'm supposed to _{but I have to go to a thing now for six hours ._.} so, uh, yeah, if you're doing the challenge, don't follow my example.

I think this is just kind of weird. Mushrooms whose effects are normal unless you do something in particular is a neat idea, I just can't say I'm terribly impressed by the results. You either get immortals who suck the squishy stuff out of people, or immortals who are made of squishy stuff. The rest seems like an attempt to shoehorn three new GoIs into an article, which doesn't seem like a great idea, really.

In all, I'm not sure what's really intended by this one.

I don't think the GOIs are meant to be expanded upon beyond the article.

The GoIs exist specifically for this skip and this skip only. The point of it was to show human reaction to something anomalous.

I thought of that too, but the piece started to feel less like something of his afterwards.

As interesting as this is, the way it is activated kind of bugs me regarding who would do that. As I have said, though, this is a good SCP. I think those groups are humorous in a dark way.

You did a really fantastic job at realizing this, and I'm impressed. You had a difficult hand dealt to you and you pulled it off without missing a step.

I do have to agree that the ritual procedures seem kind of like a stretch in regards to discovery, but I guess with the killing off of the first cult you can't really elaborate on it.

Fly agaric is commonly used for it's psychotropic properites.
I could imagine someone stumbling upon this little colony of what they think are "magic mushrooms" and harvesting them for fun and/or profit. It's pretty common for halluciongens to be consumed somewhere semi-private or at least away from the general public, to reduce risk of getting caught; there isn't a lot of direct sunlight in your average stoner basement/attic/living room/rave. The only unusual aspect for the first activation is the blood, and people "under the influence" are more prone to accidentally injuring themselves. Since the article isn't specific, it might only take a nasty papercut.

In the explanation of -A it says the instance does not need food for substance. Later the article then says that -A and -B instances can be starved after 3 weeks. Is this a mistake, or are they referring to other types of sustenance?

They do not need food in the traditional sense of the word. However,

When a human being comes into direct skin contact with an instance of SCP-1627-A, all damage and infections present within them will be healed. Over the course of the following two (2) weeks, that subject will experience rapid senescence until death, often by natural causes associated with old age. This appears to give nourishment to the SCP-1627-A instance.

So, they don't need food and water ever, but if they go three or more weeks without touching someone, they die due to lack of nourishment. Comprendez-vous?
