O5-1 wants you to rename Safe Class. What do you do?

The O5 council, by a 13-0-0 vote and with the full agreement of the Ethics Committee, The Site Directors Executive Committee of the Whole (SDECotW), and the Records and Information Security Administration (RAISA), have decided that "Safe-Class" is super boring compared to Euclid, Keter, Thaumiel, Hiemal, Apollyon, and the 9 top-secret object classes that all have cool names. Now O5-1 wants to hear your idea for a cooler name for the object class. What would you suggest?

My current best idea is Pandora-Class. Because it's just fine, as long as you don't open the box.

I'm a fan of Pandora-Class because, if you really think about it, is anything really "safe?" Hell, even something like 999 might secretly be evil, who knows!

Exactly! Having the name "Safe" could easily be confused with harmless which maaaany of the Safe-Classes are not.

I would file them a suggestion to rename other classes instead. Because Safe-class is only one that's simple to understand and self-explanation. It would be far better if we have Safe, Basic, and Unreliable - instead of Safe, Euclid, and Keter.

I'm pretty sure O5, especially O5-1, would be more concern about being practical than cool.

Which is why "safe" isn't as good of a code name.

I'm pretty sure O5, especially O5-1, would be more concern about being practical than cool.

Unless they are even more concerned with being secure.

Consider that people keep confuse that Safe mean "harmless", I agree. That being said, change it to something fancy won't fix it.

That depends on if you believe in security through obscurity or not.

If you do, calling the things that you can mostly put in a safe "safe class" seems like a bad idea.

Ah, I see. My belief is actually on the other side of spectrum, that if personnel get clear instruction and doing their job well, then come security. So I think object class is a warning label for personnel working with it - to tell them if they can relax if the lock is still there, or they should always be alert because the lock is as good as nothing.

…Not to mention that people also confuse that Keter mean "awesome" and Thaumiel mean "even more awesome".

In which case they wouldn't use codenames at all, but rather have something like:

• Secure Vault Authorized
• Routine Maintenance Required
• Highly Dynamic Containment

And Thaumiel wouldn't exist as a seperate class, since it's entire purpose is high information security.

Same thing probably with Apollyon.

As an ardent member of the all-object-classes-should-be-Sefirah-names party, I'd prefer it to be Netzach (Eternity). Because safe class objects can be put in a cell somewhere and if not interfered with they'll be no threat forever.

Binah or Chesed could also make sense as "positive" Sefirahs to reflect the comparative non-threatening nature of safe class objects to containment failure.

I'm generally against fundamental changes to the basic classification system, but a couple articles have taken a stab at the Sephiroth/Qlippoth thing, so I worked up a system around it for my big notepad document of headcanon:

Sephiroth Class	Qlippoth Class
Malkuth- Simple Containment/Low Threat	Nahemoth- Marginally helpful object
Yesod- Moderately Difficult Containment/Low Threat	Gamaliel- Can contain a mid-level threat
Hod- Simple Containment/Medium Threat	Samael- Can provide mid-level benefits to Foundation
Netzach- Moderately Difficult Containment/Medium Threat	Nogah- Can contain a mid-level threat and/or provide mid-level benefits to Foundation
Tiphareth- Highly Difficult Containment/Low Threat	Tagiriron- Can contain a high-level threat
Gevurah- Simple Containment/High Threat	Golohab- Can provide high-level benefits to Foundation
Chesed- Highly Difficult Containment/Medium Threat	Agshekeloh- Can contain a high-level threat, and/or provide mid-level benefits to Foundation
Binah- Moderately Difficult Containment/High Threat	Sheireil- Can contain a moderate-level threat, and/or provide high-level benefits to Foundation

Altogether too complicated for use, of course. Under this scheme, Safe would be redesignated 'Malkuth,' which has been used before- in a joke article lampooning the enthusiasm for alternative classes and Kabbalistic terminology.

Besides Embla, I don't think we have that many Norse Mythology object classes on the wiki. In my opinion, I think that "Freya" in reference to the Norse Goddess of Love, would make a good candidate for Safe class objects.
