Finishing strong! I love 1,001 Arabian Nights. The morals of a lot of its stories are horrifying to me (there's a lot of really explicit pro-domestic abuse messages), but the way it uses imagery for its own sake just to create an experience is fascinating, and the way it uses its frame story is ingenious. I tried to linger on details and use a fairy tale-ish narration style in this tribute, so if it seems weird that's why. Also because I rushed like hell to get this done. Three days, three coldposts.

Thanks community outreach team captains for organizing this contest, and thanks everyone who entered, read, or voted. This was a blast.

I'm into it. Good vignettes, good segues, not too reliant on the references articles while keeping them central to what's going on.

I'm not sure Dread Iris has actually been spending enough time with the Circus to start saying Essie P, but maybe she liked how demeaning it sounded.

I'm glad you liked this - Iris and Ruprecht as a sort-of comedy duo is a characterization that stuck with me ever since the tale about them and McDonalds. I'm glad she's getting her own tag out of it.

I actually went through a pretty long thought process about whether she would use the circus' terminology for the Foundation, but decided that she would both like how demeaning it sounded, and would enjoy the chance to show how much cooler and more in touch she is than Carter. And that, just maybe, the Herman Fuller crew may have rubbed off on her a bit.
