Entry (number 2; I felt kind of dirty after submitting the first one) for day 3 of the jam contest, theme 'It was a dark and stormy night'. The first thing I thought of, strangely enough.
Is anyone else hearing the Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron songs as they read this?
Anyway, one minor nitpick: 400 km2 is a 2 dimensional measurement for an object that moves in 3 dimensions.
I don't think a cubic measurement makes sense. A measurement of area tells the in-universe reader roughly where this operates and by extension how many people might see this and how much trouble it would take to hide. Adding height into the mix removes this information (if the flight altitude wasn't specified, which adds additional fluff).
For example, if you were asked where a particular type of bird lives, your answer would be in square km.
Alright, I'll admit that this is incredibly tangential to "Dark and Stormy" as a theme, but I'll be damned if making "The World War I Flying Ace" into an SCP article, one with a fair amount of heart and emotional impact, doesn't bring a smile to my face.
+1 MMG.
Okay this blindsided me because I was just readying like "oh its an anomalous airplane how cool" to "oH My GOd ITs a FLyINg doG"
