I like this concept. I really do. It kind of reminds me of moklin’s proposal, but mocks a different side of AWCY?
Unfortunately, you lost me with the last paragraph. It felt so over the top and dramatic, it ruined the mood (at least it did for me).
I genuinely made this proposal as a little dumb jab to contemporary installation/conceptual artists.
What made it made it too dramatic? I may be able to word that last paragraph out differently, or would it be better without it?
I think this is actually more in line with the spirit of most contemporary art than AWCY? content is generally. Quirky (but mostly simple) things that people are intended to engage with are pretty big right now.
I was afraid it would fall too deep into regular contemporary art, actually. But the essence of irony I feel like is very present, which as I gather is the core of AWCY?.
I guess this could be considered anti-art in AWCY? ideology?
This is what I don't like about it, although as I like contemporary art I may be biased. It reads much like someone's jab at real life contemporary art with no real connection to AWCY or the world of the Foundation apart from a couple of buzzwords.
My main issue with this article is that it feels contrarian for the purpose of being contrarian. There's no real larger point to it all except "normal is abnormal" - which, while correct in this context, doesn't do anything for me.
My secondary problem is that the prose feels off in a way that I can't really pinpoint. A good chunk of it is definitely due to the shortness of the article - there isn't enough time for me to really get invested in this proposal or whoever it is that's proposing it. However, at the same time, it also feels overstretched - the core idea is too simple to elaborate on without repeating yourself and using fluff (the abstract section highlights this issue well; you're placing too much emphasis on stuff that the reader would be able to infer even if the bench was anomalous in some way).
I expected people not to like this article honestly because of how dumb the concept is, so fair deuce.
The idea behind this is a joke about how something that can blend in so well it stands out, so I mainly took the "irony" bit of it and turned it into the most pretentious thing I can write. I genuinely don't have a point aside from that base concept.
I agree that the last paragraph felt, um, less - mostly because of the repetitiveness, I think. I was almost hesitant about voting for this, and then I got to "North Korea but bees."
Also, "able to be sat on comfortably by up to three people who do not know each other and up to five people who have known each other for a long period of time" is stylish as hell.
Mundanity can't defy normalcy, it is normalcy.
The weird thing about this is that it could be an actual art installation writeup, minus the North Korea but bees, etc. The only thing special or intriguing about it is the AWCY label slapped on. I don't think it really accomplishes anything, though. -1
Oop, guess I should not have deleted such a large portion of the paragraph. The artist is talking about normalcy within AWCY? which is self explanatory.
My point is that it's an ironic joke, honestly even the artist probably just bought a bench and bullshitted this proposal to see what happens. I'm seeing these comments as the words of in-universe critics. I do want this article to stay in the site, but if people don't like the concept then I guess it'll just die because I don't want to change it. I'll fix paragraphs and word things out differently, but not the entire idea.

This feels rather postmodernist of an ACWY-centric piece, a concept I would welcome. However, I am pondering if the GoI format is the optimal basis to express such a concept. I am frankly unsure of it myself.
I'm thinking it could work as a tale? Like, I'd be more interested in seeing the reactions of the AWCY intelligentsia to someone taking a decidedly mundane approach to anart.
I… am having a hard time pinning down just how I feel about this article.
Like others, I can see the parrallels it seems to draw with 'contemporary art' in the real world. If one looks, they can find plenty of debate on the talent / skill / creative merits of certain artworks or art forms; if they deserve to be called "art"; ultimately on what even is our definition of art. I think it's an interesting question, without necessarily any one correct answer.
But I reckon it's that line of thinking, of those questions raised, that might be the best part of the concept. I'll second the notion that maybe a tale would let you explore the angles more expansively, and likely be more directly engaging to the reader.
Though, one could argue that if this piece incites such thought and deep reflection in its audience then it is indeed high art… Hmmm, think I'll take a little time and a re-read before voting.

In general I advise against self-deleting. If it comes down by standard process, well that's just how she goes sometimes; and this discussion thread might pick up more useful feedback you can use in the time it takes for that to happen.
In the process of writing the tale you might find yourself revising the details of the art installation that the story revolves around, and end up with a rewritten version of this GOI-Format that will stand solidly as it's own seperate article. Or you may simply fold the entire idea into one piece. It'll just take the time and effort of trying different things and getting feedback on what works or what doesn't.
For the record, I've decided to give an upvote here for the thought-provoking concept. Though I reckon I might like it better if the article itself did a bit more of the legwork on exploring that concept. Good luck with your follow-up efforts!

I have taken advice on making a tale out of this, and it's still in the drafts & critiques forum. I would very much appreciate if people checked it out 'cause I want to know what you think.
I like its simplicity. It tells a story in a few paragraphs, which is well done and difficult to do, and many pieces can often be three times this length and say less than a third of what this is saying. It is a criticism of the current state of AWCY, in the same campy language exactly as you would expect from art descriptions. It captures the prose really well as expected from an overdramatic description of one's own art.
Here's a description of Rothko, aka, 'the guy that paints fuzzy rectangles'.
One of the pioneers of Color Field Painting, Rothko’s abstract arrangements of shapes, ranging from the slightly surreal biomorphic ones in his early works to the dark squares and rectangles in later years, are intended to evoke the metaphysical through viewers’ communion with the canvas in a controlled setting.
I would argue that potentially the descriptions of ideas and arts that the artist was trying to convey should be a lot more evocative than they are now. There's a moment where you can reference other AWCY articles in the most exaggerated, over-the-top description possible, like the author is not only critiquing the AWCY world but is calling out other AWCY creators.

Honestly, I think this is fine as it is, and it's certainly amusing that its reception on this site could parallel the reception of this project in-universe as well. I'm a big fan.
Honestly, coming back a few days later and seeing this observation switched me from a down to a no vote. I mean, I still maintain that the ending is too dramatic for my tastes, but this parallel is too good to not appreciate.
