I haven't written anything in a while, so I decided to write this up and post it. As I said in the first edit, I have to go to work, but I'll do a second look when I get home. Pretty sure I didn't miss any spelling errors, but if I did, feel free to correct them. You know, if doing something I'm supposed to do is your thing.

The story behind it is a bit interesting. I'm about 90% sure that this story has been written before. The entire plot of this story has been in my head for a few weeks, but I've held off writing it because I can't help but think it's been done. Thing is, I can't find any proof of that. I've googled the hell out of it, but I've found nothing that leads me to think it's been done. So in order to get the story out of my head, I decided to write it down and post it here.

Well, that solves a mystery (only right now did I get the twin meaning of the story title!) I've had in my head for weeks. I've surprised myself on how much of the detail in the original story I remembered.

I'll open this up to others: what should I do about this story? People seem to like it, and I'm proud of how the story came out, but I'm kinda embarrassed that I went from "Story I Think I Might Have Heard, But I'm Writing It Down To Get It Out Of My Head" to "Holy Shit I Copied Someone's Story".

I'd keep it here. While you were obviously inspired by the source, I like reading your version a whole lot better. But I'd understand if you'd rather delete it.

It's like turing the tint on a TV a little bit one way or another: something's up, but you can't place it.

I've got a bit more interestingly random facts about this story, now that I'm done at work and can talk a bit more.

There's no real references to anything in the story. Actually, that's a bit of a lie: there's references to stories that I had considered writing, or tried to write but decided to abandon. First and foremost is a character trait for Character-Bibs that I'm still considering exploring: Character-Bibs has to be forced to take vacations in a meaningful away. I really like the concept of Clef stealing Bib's access card (so he can't just work during his vacation) and that Bibs has a tertiary work tablet because he expects his primary and secondary ones to be taken away from him during his off-times. In my headcannon, the Foundation is vaguely aware that Bibs goes rogue during these vacations. He does what he wants to do, the way he wants to do it, and can claim that he wasn't doing any official work. It's a concept I want to explore, but the time I tried it, it wound up being too Mary Sueish.
