Good to know I'm not the only recent addition

Hello all, feel free to call me TL. I'm 30, from Ohio in the United States, and I'm a writer, a fate I would not wish on my worst enemy.

My first encounter with this site was through that Youtube video someone made for SCP-087. After being introduced to the site proper, I proceeded to lose about 24 straight hours of productivity, and continued to delve into various articles over the course of last week. After starting a list of ideas of my own, I got the nerve up to apply and now here I am!

Aside from writing, I'm into linguistics and general nerd things. While I hope I can use my editing powers to good effect around here, I'm also looking forward to developing my ability to write horror and creepy things, because it's definitely not a strong suit. A little give and take, that's what I'm looking for!

I do have a question. As I'm unfamiliar with Wikidot, what's the best way to keep up with this site? I've just been browsing the newest pages every day, but with forums and whatnot, I'm really not sure where to start!

First of all, welcome!

As for keeping up with everything, that can be a chore. If you want to be notified to changes to a specific article or posts on its forum page, there's an option at the bottom of every page to follow it (click on "this page" to see the option). If you create an article or comment on one, you'll automatically start following it. Unfortunately, I personally know of no way to be notified of comments on non-article forum threads or when new articles are posted. I just keep an eye out for them.¹

You've obviously already been diving into the deep amount of material we have; that's really the best way to get a feel for the site. As for writing, keep in mind that we're not your standard horror site, since all² the SCP articles have to be written in a very dry, clinical style that most horror pieces aren't. That does provide the extra challenge of having to make sure the scare/creep/horror is still evident in even the dryest of documents, though.

Useful information, thank you! I don't mind coming here to check things every day (rather than having emails), but I'll make use of that following option when necessary.
