Response to Bright's first challenge: create a SCP in under 24 hours w/o using the sandbox or getting any other input.
Nicely creepy. The bit about the human fat actually made me twitch.
I like it except for the bit about scented candles. Makes it go from existential horror to satanic/occult scary story for me. Don't ask, can't explain.
+1
I wrote this out really fast, so I can't say that there was some deep reasoning behind it other than I didn't want it to be that differently colored candles did it. Imagine you're the original unsuspecting owner and you put in this peppermint or lemongrass scented candle so you can relax while taking a soothing bath. Then the screaming starts.
Thanks for the upvote :)
withholding a vote for now. I'd like to see maybe at least a short experiment log, especially concerning the scented candle aspect.
It would be an incredibly boring test log, believe me. All it would do is say the odor, the pungency and that yep, there's screaming.
I spent some time with a nice nutmeg candle burning as I showered this weekend. I pictured the screaming. Boring or no, , even a very short entry might be ok. The image….imagined sound?…..was unsettling. Upvote, but consider even a singular entry, perhaps two, all the same. I am of less experience here, to be sure, but even boring details sometimes add a quiet oomph.
Short, creepy and mysterious.
Makes you wonder if this SCP is responsible for cases of human spontaneous combustion…
+1 of course.
Nah, we've already got that one. ;)
