The base idea for this SCP is simple, it's a spray cleaner that will remove any mark or blemish from anything, stains, drawings, tattoos, wrinkles, etc.
It could be made more sinister, but that's the base idea, didn't want to go overboard and do a SUPER KETER LOLOL thing, and I find safe level SCP's interesting to read.
As it stands, it's too useful. Seriously, I could market that and retire.
Now what some people do is up the voltage - over power it and that makes it scary, if not creepy. The problem is that when you do that, it hits one of the items on the cliche list. (I leave it to you to find which one.)
A better approach might be "Side Effect Include" so it goes from "This is awesomely useful" to "Oh shit! They would beusing this EVERYWHERE! Those poor bastards!" I suggest something that is related in some tangent way. Not a mental effect "Makes you clean EVERYTHING UNTIL YOU DIE!" nor "A spot remover that removes the family dog" Maybe something that through constant exposure cleans you mind (AND YOUR SOUL) until you have suddenly ascend into the beyond - which freaks out the Foundation and they (of course) suppress it.
Well, just random thoughts.
Really… I don't think it has too much potential. First thought was that any… more effects would make it too similar to Self-Cleaning Pool or World's Greatest Tothbrush, depending on which direction you'd end up going with it. As it is, it's an Over The Top Object. It could PROBABLY be done well, yes, like every idea. I just don't think it's worth pursuing.
Of course, this is not an official "DON'T DO THIS.". Go ahead and try. Just keep in mind that this will be difficult to pull off well. Good Luck still.
What if as a side effect, as you erase and clean things with the spray, you slowly erase your memories along with it. Proportionate to the effort it would take to remove the said stain/blemish with it's conventional remover, I.E. if you use it to remove a coffee stain you forget where your car keys are, but if you try to remove a dragon tattoo on someone's back, you forget a year or two of high school. Thoughts?
Whatever you think would work best. Or worst.
Well, cleaning EVERYTHING isn't necessarily a good thing! If inhaled, for instance, or even a bit was swallowed, just what would it do to a person… Humanity actually needs a whole heck of a lot of types of beneficial bacteria to end up being able to stay alive… And perhaps on buildings, it could seem initially useful, but also "clean" away things that help maintain structural integrity?
Alrighty, wrote down the rough draft for the SCP, tell me what needs work, or if this idea is un-salvageable
If the d-class forgot about his last two years of high school, then how does he remember he used to know about it?
Also I really don't like the last incident, personally. It doesn't seem to be all that creepy, since we have no idea how memory loss can turn a person into some bloodthirsty maniac.
Although I do like the second experiment in the log.
*shrug*
Insta-retcon: He remembered telling the Foundation interviewer he graduated and he remembered not lying about it.
Not remembering doesn't mean "What are you talking about? There was no 1982!" it's "I must of been SOMEWHERE then! In 1981 I was XXX and in 1983 I was ZZZ - so… where was I?"
…which is why amnesiacs in the Foundation probably work more like the neauralizer from Men In Black then that REALLY cool party in Hawaii I wish I remembered!
Instead of a spray, it should be a towel. It could have a memetic effect which causes anyone who sees it to instantly want to buy more of it, and want to show everyone by spreading it across media worldwide.
And so the Shamwow was born.
