I was searching up the SCP tag when I found this: someone made us a Tumblr. (opens in new window). There was also this, which doesn't claim to be the Foundation but just shares random nice articles from time to time.
Thoughts?

The first link says we're a RP site.
Probably just a troll.
I went blind from rage.
That picture of 682 is goddamn amazing though.
I've seen that floating around, somewhere. I almost want to say it's from some gaming sorcebook, but i have no idea what one.
It's a piece from Keith Thompson called "the pripyat beast", not a picture of 682, though I can't deny that it works… He's a source book artist, so it probably was in one, but his site doesn't say.
They say that THEY are an RP site. They also link to us and refer to us as the "wiki". It's admittedly pretty confusing when they refer to themselves as "the SCP Foundation" when saying that they're an RP site, and they only refer to us ONCE, on the sidebar—I was initially confused as well.
Alright, so I think I should just come out and say that I run the second tumblr. I've been reading articles on this site for a year or two now, and I created the tumblr purely with the intent of sharing some of the articles I like with what I figured would be the couple dozen people who would follow me.
However, in the month or so since I started it, the number of followers has grown to more than 1300 and one of the posts has over 11,000 notes. I am trying to respect the Foundation and the original authors, but I am finding it hard to keep everyone happy.
The goal of my tumblr is to post a link to an article I enjoy, along with relevant pictures and a brief description so that my followers could decide if they wanted to click the link and read more. I will not pretend that I am a good writer and I realize that the quality of the descriptions may be lacking, but I feel that providing a summary is better than clogging up people's dashes with copious amounts of text by just copy-pasting the entire article.
I would like to be able to say that my tumblr is endorsed or approved by the Foundation, but I am aware that may never be possible. This is why I am currently appealing here to ask what I should do.
Also this. affiliated with the first tumblr. This is pretty weird. At least they credit us. I have no idea why they're doing this—we've got a roleplay, right? Uh, unless it's an ARG. Or something. In which case, it's exactly like this place, but with less articles, a smaller membership, and no quality control, because I don't see anything that indicates that they're actually roleplaying this thing in the real, physical, world.
I'm getting the shakes reading these…the old folks will remember what happened with Gaia.
This is…not great. I mean, it's not bad, but…it's a bit like seeing a dog trying to wear clothes. It's adorable for a while, but then it just gets pathetic. I think the best course of actions is, honestly, just sit and see if they ever come to us. I'd love to go in and set them straight, but honestly, it probably won't happen. I remember trying to pound some sense in to the Gaia kids, and just being horrified as i watched things spin down in to stupidity…unfortunately, on both sides.
We're a bigger, stronger site now, and i think we can withstand some less-then-steller fan works. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, right? I'm stunned that we're starting to spawn outside sites, besides the Russian and Chinese language translation groups…
Gears has a very good point here, guys. We've spawned fanfiction. I know many of us will scoff at the very concept, but put aside your pride for a moment and consider what that says about the size and dedication of our fanbase. The dog may look pretty silly in that pantsuit, but he did go to an awful lot of trouble to put it on.
As long as they make sure to include the time-honored "we don't own this" disclaimer (as every fan community knows damn well they have to do), I'm okay with it.
I find this line of metaphors to be incredible offensive….
But all seriousness, if people want to run around in costumes with our toys, fine then let them. It's when they start claiming to be us, that's when we need to get the shit kicker boots on.
I have a low opinion of Tumblr to begin with so…I'm expecting that something that will cause me to shake my head in disappointment to arise in the near future.
(Also I recognize the picture they used for 682 from a user avatar I saw while archive binging Zoofights 5. True fact. No idea on the original source.)
What we're running into here is a problem a lot of companies were running into at the start of the internet age: People had already registered domain names and accounts for them on various sites, and were charging said companies for the names. While I doubt we'll ever encounter anyone requiring any large sum of money, the possibility is there. The easy solution, of course, is to make accounts for the Foundation on various sits ahead of time, and register any domain names we may need in the future. I know we already have a Facebook group and Facebook Page (although I have no idea who's running either). I've taken the liberty of making us a Twitter Account (SCP foundation was already taken by a legitimate foundation called SCP) (Also, hilariously, the Russian sister site has a twitter account already). Any admins wanting the password for it can PM me for all the juicy details.
The group is me, don't know anything about the page. Last I saw of it, it was swamped under spam.
Well apparently it's running smoothly. I think you founded the old facebook group, which is being archived because it's old. The new one seems active.
Is there an OFFICIAL SCP tumblr account? also is there any reason why there isnt?
Here's an unrelated rp account that appeared recently, featuring two characters apparently not from the site. It's got some pretty funny stuff.
