So, on my last SCP, someone accused me of writing a 'porn script' SCP. The idea lodged in my head, and this is the result.

I only regret I couldn't think of a way to work in how specific the requests could be, such as 'Mary Kate and Ashley Olson raped by Uncle Joey then covered in butter and deep fried' but ya can't have everything.

Also, trying to figure out a good way to work in some researchers view of the 'normal' degeneration of sexual interest, but I somehow feel I couldn't put that up without insulting someone.

The though has been posited that such videos could be used for the blackmailing of politicians who are antithetical to the Foundation cause.

I don't like this sentence. There's a typo and some odd things, but I don't like the general idea the foundation is sending depraved sex tapes to politicians.

I find it amusing/quirky but I'm already getting somewhat annoyed at amusing/quirky/not scary SCP's.

Consider it as you will. I like it though.

That's… not what is being suggested. The idea being floated here is that they could use the fake videos of the politicians engaged in weird sexual practices as blackmail, but it doesn't work because they can't copy the video.

I know that's what is being suggested. I don't really see why that's in there. I don't think it adds anything to the article ('we can't copy the video' can be put differently) and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Blackmail is too risky, especially when the material is fake.

I mean, <REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT> knows damn well that she hasn't ever committed <REDACTED> with a live pig, much less been filmed committing it.

What might be interesting would be finding out if this stuff even shows up in a mirror (my guess: no).

Crimes of a sexual nature are incredibly touchy. There have been several cases where people have lost jobs and reputation over obvious rumours.

This. Hell, non-crimes of an even vaguely sexual nature can completely ruin a politician's career. Remember that congressman who took a completely non-explicit picture of his briefs-covered junk, and it got on the internet, and that somehow counted as a "sex scandal"?

It's one of those SCPs that you think "That would be cool if it wasn't for those craaazzy drawbacks" I'm not really sure about this, it could be this but could have a log or interview, something really freaky. A interview log with a regular guy who came across this one day while checking his email and now is a sex depraved murdering rapist could be absolutely terrifying.

For some reason, I suspect MC&D would have interest in this - producing one-off pieces for their customers at no cost.

Um, the Foundation became the source of all spam and is emailing viruses out, even though there hasn't been a mentioned instance of Thefactory.exe being emailed out?

The purpose would be to make it so people were afraid to open unsolicited emails that asked for their personal information. It wouldn't prevent the email requesting info from being sent out, but it would make people scared to open it.

I like this. It reminds me of the south park episode where the internet goes down. The bit at the end with the researcher being affected is what made it for me. It sounds so depraved.

I really, really want to like this. But there are a few issues I really can't get over. First off, this seems far too malicious for a Factory item. Factory items are basically all useful, in a kind of warped way. They don't really have too much in the way of random arbitrary side effects.

Regarding the arbitrary side effects: I like the spam thing, but the thing with the viewers sexual proclivities growing more "depraved" just doesn't work. More deviant relative to what social norm? There have been a number of societies where pedophilia is commonplace or even required.

Sorry, this just doesn't quite work.

Factory items are always a little bit malicious. They generally require some kind of sacrifice.

True, but they're generally upfront about it. The Factory doesn't seem big on screwing its customers over. A drop of blood is comparatively paltry. I can see spam thing, but not the mental effects. Bad for business.

I suppose that, to me, it still works because I suspect that the mental side effects are less due to something inherent in the device and more due to something inherent in human nature. Sexual excitement is about as close as humans get to a pleasure center that has a wire going into it (despite all of the sci-fi written in the aftermath of Skinner that posited "drouds", the human brain is complex enough that we don't have a central pleasure center to zap with the effects that we get on, say, mice). There have been a few studies showing that internet porn is highly addictive for large segments of the population. It's free, it's easy, it gives a massive jolt to the pleasure centers, and there are generally no negative side effects from the consumption itself. The only real limiting impulse is that people get bored after hours of watching tab A go into slot B and start wanting something more novel.

*wry grin* So, we have a device that can provide them anything they want to view with no cost of lengthy searching and seemingly no risk of getting caught and it sets up the perfect situation for someone to keep pushing that button to get the electrical jolt to make them feel good. And when one area gets burnt out from over-use, they go on to the next exciting and degrading thing…

I really don't think that the different kinds of "extreme" porn are interchangeable to porn addicts, at least not in the same way some drugs are for some drug addicts. For instance, a pedophile who watches child porn isn't doing so because child porn is "extreme", or forbidden, or deviant, but because s/he's already attracted to children (which is what makes him/her a pedophile in the first place). If that person develops a burn-out on child porn, s/he isn't going to suddenly develop a sexual attraction for animals.

Maybe this one was accidentally released before they got the all the bugs out of it, and ordinary people started copying it. After a lot of effort they discovered that they couldn't get all the bugs out of it, shrugged their shoulders with the thought "eh, you can't win them all", and then left the clean-up of the already released buggy version to the Foundation.

I like the idea. The scary part comes in when you consider how many people out there have this. Imagine a few people in your life inputting in the names of you, your wife, your children… it could be family, friends, ex-girlfriends, viewing night after night videos of you and yours engaging in depraved activities.

Not to mention, who's to say that the tapes aren't real in some alternate dimension?

I also like how there doesn't seem to be anything inherently addictive or compelling other than than the already-known effects of pornography, particularly internet pornography. It's nothing but human nature which says "Hey, this doesn't cost me anything and it hits my pleasure centers in the right way. Sure, I'm going to keep pushing that button…"
