You may notice a large update today of tags on the site. This is part of a massive update and standardization of the tagging system we use here to better support searching and classifying the articles. Unfortunately, the also clogs up the Recent Changes tool many of us use to monitor the site.

If you're wanting to make sure you haven't missed anything, though: you'll notice at the top of the Recent Changes, there are a number of options. Uncheck "ALL" and check everything except "tag changes." Then, click [Update List]. This will show you all the changes, sans the tag updates.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but this is going to take some time. Apologies.

Mostly a standardization across the board. For instance, we have an "africa" and an "african" tag. Both are on the same SCP and are not used elsewhere. If we find that it's actually a useful tag for some reason (such as more SCPs needing it, though its doubtful), then we'll keep it. Otherwise, its being removed.

The general effort is to slim down the number of tags, make a glossary so that all of them are organized and defined, and then complete the update.

The update today consists of tagging/retagging all author pages with the "author" tag and all Foundation Tales with the "tale" tag. Additionally, I hope to hit the creepypasta and the guides later tonight. The reason for this is to make more of the searching modules actually useful and make it easily possible to feature/find specific SCPs, tales, or articles.

Those of us that rely on the mail updates (via the "Start watching: site SCP-WIKI.wikidot.com | category _default | this page [?]" at the bottom of every page) are not effected…

Thanks, guys. We'll try to keep these bursts of tagging to a minimum. I'm mostly tweaking and digging as I have time.
