I'm writing a textbook on time travel!

So far I've only finished the first two chapters, although I may go back to edit existing chapters later on if there's something important to add. Expect additional chapters to arrive eventually.

Also, if people are interested, I might create an appendix containing solutions to the exercises. I'm not going to bother with it until I've finished everything else, but if you want to post solutions in the comments I'll create the appendix and add them to it. (Please put solutions inside collapsibles to avoid spoiling it for other people who haven't solved them yet.)

Another note, if you are interested, I am willing to accept chapters on additional time travel topics from other authors. If you want to write a chapter for the book, reply or PM or find me in chat so we can discuss it.

Tentative no-vote on the whole series. I'm largely of the opinion that if articles consist mostly of, if not entirely of, scientific technobabble with little else in the way or covering up a weak story, I'd downvote. (Plus, science has always been my worst field, so it'll all fly by me anyway.)

But the textbook format and intended use of in-universe learning and teaching offsets this somewhat. Plus, I have to admit, it makes me a bit nostalgic for my school days.

(I'd greatly appreciate solutions!)

It's not technobabble, though. As far as I saw, the scientific parts were accurate and well worked out. I enjoyed working on the exercises. Of course, there are a few points that can't be fully explained (otherwise we would have time travel), but the author does a great job putting a rigorous mathematical structure on it.

This is awesome! I've always wanted someone to go into the nitty gritty of utilizing time travel - logicking it out as far as it can go within a given universe.

The rating on this (+39 at the time of my upvote) pains me. You know, maybe this isn't the community for these sorts of posts/projects…but then again if not here, then where? I think the answer is that there is no other medium wherein something like this could be made and appreciated; and I'd defend that by virtue of this being here!

This is simply amazing. It is immaculate in its detail and is genius in its conception and execution. This is an apical example of the logical conclusion that the premise behind this community sets: scientific mimicry in creative writing (even if most of the site is still pining for cognitohazards and 05 credentials…nothing wrong with that of course). I'd put this up there with symphonies, but then again, I am a very strange person. (Don't let the pedestrian setting of an interactive website fool us; where else would the literary visionaries of our generation(s) be?)
