Conspiracy!

You know that feeling when you are sure that you've jumped to the right conclusion, but no-one believes you? How often are you wrong? How often are you right?

I hope you enjoy reading this. It falls roughly into the Gulf Canon, so my apologies to writers in that canon if I've messed up any plans you had. It also ties together at least 5 skips, including 3 of mine, and those of Marcuse and Kate McTiriss.

Thanks very much to tretter, Bluemorpho, Shio, DrMagnus and dankaar for their thoughts and feedback. In particular to tretter for some good thoughts about the style - sorry that we didn't get to discuss them further, but I really wanted to steal this slot if I could! And sorry djkaktus for throwing a reference to your Director Aktus without asking!

I think that first "or" is a mistake unless you meant something else?

That is indeed a mistake - it should read "The removal of personnel or objects". Now fixed, thanks for spotting.

This comment is going to be filled with deeper crit and a bit more than just Wild Mass Guessing about what's going on when I don't have a mid-term tomorrow morning. Until then, know that a) The Gulf coming back is much appreciated, b) the references to several of your skips (cardboard boxes, hehe) are not going unloved, and c) is this the end game of the non-anomalous air coupler?

Mass paranoia as an scp… I like the idea. Reminds me of various events from history (the red scare and Japanese internment camps come to mind) in which the general public worked themselves into a frenzy over nothing and responded with extremely unnecessary force to a problem they invented in their own minds. Quite well written +1

It's interesting to see how a slow boil mass panic/paranoia can affect a relatively isolated population like workers in a Foundation facility. It reminds me a little of SCP-1268. +1

I don't know if you intended to double the s; this seems like it could've been an intentional choice, though I feel safer just putting it here in case you didn't know.

I liked this. It was a short, entertaining thrill ride. I thought you were going to take it in a darker direction at the mention of internal segregation of Catholic personnel, but then it continued on as a fully comedic piece, which I think was probably the best decision you could've made. Showing the gradual progression of the site's personnel into a deeper state of naive paranoia was amusing. Presentation was almost universally excellent, and clinical tone was spot-on.

Very little else to add. It's a quick burst of fun that's good at what it does.

Thanks, A Vacuum - glad you liked it. Although, much like the other skips I'm referring to (especially mine), the jokey tone shouldn't be confused with harmlessness. Together this constitutes probably the most successful attack on the Foundation in some time.

In terms of "focussed" - that's just some British spelling coming out. I've amended it, rather than headcanon that the head of the Foundation's Louisiana outpost just happens to be non-American.

Noting that this could be a more serious situation than originally anticipated, we have cancelled all non-essential staff leave as a precaution.

Is that ever chunky wording… Suggest you change that so it reads better. "We have reassigned all non-essential staff", perhaps?

Ah, and I can see that the chunkiness is producing the wrong interpretation. The Site isn't reassigning staff (ie sending them elsewhere), it is keeping staff at the Site - it's cancelling their leave (ie holiday) unless that leave is essential (eg medical).

I'll have a think about how to re-word that to make it clearer.
