Hmm… it's pretty similar to SCP-354, not to mention that SCPs that make other SCPs are on the Big List of Cliches. Still, despite the unfortunate subject matter, this is a very well-written and well-presented SCP. Good job!
myself, i like it. it's not so much a SCP-maker…the critters just seem to be it's effect, such as it is. I would make a small tweak, however, showing that the critters lack insides. Not just reproductive, but next to no digestive system, limited respiratory…basically like mayflies. Horrible, horrible mayflies, a bundle of nerves, muscles, and sharp bits.
I like this, just seems that it can be expanded a bit. Such as:
Consulting with a historian of the possible time period and determining if the vase has any markings that hint to the time, symbolic meaning or anything of that sort.
Recording the sounds of 019-2 and translating to see if anything is said.
What happens if the room is put below 0 Celsius? Will this retard the production of 019-2?
What happens if the room is raised above 0 Celsius? Will this speed the production of 019-2?
Is 019-2 now fire-proof or just harder to light on fire? I.E. do we need a hotter production of flame to eliminate them?
Just the first things that popped into my head and thought I would share. Don't want to create an experiment log if you have plans for this.
I understand that not everything is needed, just throwing out some ideas that I had. Like I said, I do like this piece, it just seems to need a little more, you know? Like that since the 019-2 are/were vulnerable to fire, it could be that the Burning of Rome occurred to control an infestation.
I don't want to see all my questions answered because that takes away part of the charm, like if we knew how 343 did what he does, he would stop being so intriguing.
The original inspiration behind the myth of Pandora's Box, perhaps. The original was a jar, after all.
Definitely one of my inspirations when writing this, actually. Heh.
The other of which, definitely was not that endless pot of Miniblins in that island in Windwaker. No. Definitely not. No way. Completely unrelated.
Wait, we've already got a jar that produces creatures vulnerable to incineration? What does this mean for SCP-244?
Not much, I think. They are sufficiently different.
