I probably wouldn't even have heard of the game if not for this forum. It is pretty obscure, and isn't one of those indie games that gets on my radar because of critical acclaim (Gone Home) or infamy for maximum suckage (Hatred), I am guessing it is neither brilliant art or steaming crap, but rather mediocre.
Funny because I'm the exact opposite. Yes posting in old threads seems to be a thing I like to do apparently.
I found out about the Foundation because of watching Markiplier play both Containment Breach, and SCP-087-B. I read through some of the SCP's but never all of them and then kinda fell off the wagon, until I found a youtuber who reads SCP's for her channel. Got interested in them again, and came back to the site. Now I'm here trying to learn to squeeze my otherwise blobby writing style into the rigid format that is writing an SCP. Enjoy that image. It's like trying to put way to much schmooze into not a big enough container.
SCP : CB is honestly a good game for how old the engine the person who makes the game uses. The only people that are bad in my opinion are the ones that think SCP is real and the ones that only know about CB and say that all the other SCPs are "fan made"
All the other SCPs are fan made, this is why SCP-173 deserves its rating, regardless of if you think it meets "standards" or not.
But SCPs should be based on how good they are, and only how good they are, which is why I downvoted it - it just doesn't appeal to me, and it is just a copy of the weeping angels, as controversial as that opinion is.
About the only thing working with a crappy engine gets you, merit-wise, is an A for persistence.
This may be true but with what they had back then it wasn't as realistic of a goal. With tech today a remastered version could be so much more, in both style and in visual/audio.
With the tech of today a chase portion when running from 106 could be down right terrifying.
I recently tried it out and I think it's decent. The mechanics to contain and escape from skips are creative and I think the main scare from the game comes from its atmosphere.
And about its effect here… I'm neutral on this. Of course it was a fucking headache back in 2012 and it still has it's effects today, however, many active users here may have never joined if it wasn't for this.
Hell, I came to know what an SCP is just for that game.
I would have never of discovered this site if it wasn't for that game. Or, indeed, watching Markiplier play it on youtube. The game has improved over the years, and I predict that it may of caused a large number of good people to join this site, and made its popularity heavily increase. Even if the game isn't the best, and not the best created, it has certainly been a positive influence on this site, and me personally.
