This whole take doesn't seem to do anything with the concept of 2265, it basically reiterates the entire interview portion of the document. There's no creep, suspense, mystery, twist, nothing. Just the sameish dialogue spread out into a tale.
This bugged me quite a bit too:
Foundation gave me a (heavily censored) copy of my documentation at my release
Why? Why, would the Foundation give him anything other than a nice strong dose of amnestics? An absolutely pointless threat to the veil, that.
On mobile, so forgive the lack of links, but you should check out a few of these tales to get an idea of how to better approach an SCP one-shot story.
• Basically anything from the reimagining contest eg "Why Change" takes an innocuous -J and turns it into a legitimate XK scenario.
• "The Young Man" gives us a background to one of the more insidious and popular skips on the site.
• "Israfil" is a strange little tale based off -579, and manages to capture the ambiguity of the SCP.
•More recently, "Colors" and "Colors II" show us a different perspective of the skips they're based on in a neat format.
