I have a idea i would like to try out, let me know what you think…

I am going to have a contest to make a new SCP entry. I have a picture that will work well, and i'd like to see what the community can come up with.

If you have a idea, go to Contest Entries and post a link to it…SCP titles should be written as "SCP-C <username>". I'll be looking for good, creepy entries, but all are welcome.

After the contest application period ends, we'll do a period of voting…the best will move on to become a new entry, and win some kind of prize (to be determined)

Just a reminder, entries are due this Friday! we already have three entries, but more would be appreciated! The winning entry will be placed in the "Featured" section on the main page.

Applications are now closed! thank you to everyone who submitted ideas, the voting period is now open! Remember, the prize is being featured on the main page, and of coarse bragging rights.

looking ahead, what should the next prize be? in addition to main-page featuring, and the ego boost, would something like…say, a picture of your Foundation staffer help motivate people? let me know your ideas!

I think recognition is an excellent motivator, and nifty little 'extras' like a drawing of your character is one of the bigger draws you could offer. Setting the award earlier will help with participation - not that it's lacking, seven entries is very respectable.

Another thing I might change for the next contest if I were in your shoes would be the idea of the image entirely. Instead, set a theme or topic to craft an SCP around, and provide a possible sample image or two. This way, you get a solid grounding to compare the SCPs submitted on, and those that don't win aren't necessarily scrapped, like they will be with this contest. The 'all-or-nothing' in this concept is a slight disincentive from participation.

haha, thanks! One thing I've learned in my life is that good, quality feedback is one of the most useful things you can give someone, so I make an effort to give a thought-out response when someone asks questions like that.

Voting is open to the public…granted, it has been for a day or two, but i thought i'd make the announcement for those who haven't been keeping up. we already have some front runners, but we have lots of time yet. Go and vote, and we'll see who finishes on top!

Also, looking ahead, i think i will be taking Heiden's comments to heart. The next contest will be more open, with no single picture restriction. it will be a set of prompts and ideas to include or avoid, and possibly a few suggested picture ideas.

I'm thinking some kind of picture may be the next prize, in addition to general recognition and front-page featuring. Anyone with artistic talent, please let me know if you would be willing/able to lend a hand with that.

Er, maybe I'm just being dense, but I'm not sure exactly how the voting is going here.

Is it one vote per contributor? Or are we free to use the rating modules as we see fit?

I'll go with the one up vote per contributor as it seems that's what most did, but let me know what you were thinking.

I'd like to have it as a single vote per entry, however if you feel compelled to vote on multiple entries, i don't see a problem.

Should that be a standard next go-round? Should we have single votes, or allow multiple votes?

I'll probably have a new contest up and running soon, so keep an eye out! i'll leave this contest page up for a bit, to let people save and take down their entries, if Sorts could let me know which number you would like your entry to be, or just move it and let me know, I'll get to featuring it on the main page.

Also, I'm looking for anyone who can draw to do up a picture for the winner of the avatar or a SCP item. If you have artistic skill, please PM me and let me know when/if you'll be available to do this, i would GREATLY appreciate it…
