Seeking Greenlights: Yes
Page Type: SCP Article
Genre: Horror, gore,
Page Layout (Optional): there will be two different containment procedures to show what happened after the event in the narrative as well as an updated description
Elevator Pitch: The SCP is specifically the tape inside of a VHS that becomes violent when not played or when the outer part of the VHS becomes damaged.
Central Narrative: The SCP is discovered after reports of DVDs being smashed with no know cause in a Blockbuster Video Store. They find a VHS tape that winds and rewinds itself with no known cause when it wants to be played. It is believed to be the entire VHS tape when the foundation initially finds it. The site it is located (believing it to be a safe nonviolent entity) will host a biweekly viewing party, for those who want to attend, to keep the SCP from getting agitated. People start criticizing the movie choice during one of the viewing party (complaining that it is just the same movie every time and mentioning the outdated format of VHS) to which the SCP pauses the movie and starts to violently wind and rewind. Eventually the SCP is calmed and new containment procedures are in place for quiet time during the movie. Another instance, a researcher drops SCP and breaks open the VHS. The SCP then attacks the researcher, inserting itself into the mouth, nose and other parts of the body and causes the researcher to asphyxiate. It then starts to mold the researchers body into the crude form of a VHS to make a new outer shell to protect itself. Once it determines that this new shell isn’t suitable it goes through the facility repeating the same event with other unfortunate site staff. Eventually the foundation finds the closest vhs tape near the facility, and the SCP then puts itself inside it, calming it. Containment procedures are then updated to viewing parties with D-class personnel and a secure room with no cracks or crevices it could slither out of.
Hook/Attention-Grabber: It is to show what happens when a SCP is trusted too much or is believe to be less violent than it actually is. It’s to show some of the naïveté that can come from trusting an SCP too much (like 999) and show an SCP who can seem harmless but actually be sooo much more
Additional Notes: this is just the spark notes there is more that I have planned if I go further with this
