Seeking Greenlights: Yes
Page Type: SCP Article
Elevator Pitch: An anomalous painting that causes the one who viewed it to slowly start changing the world around them to fit one of two ideas through repeated or continuous exposure. Those who seem dissatisfied with their position in life (job, friend circle, daily routine, etc) will become host the painting's effects. The host of the paintings effects will have no conscious control over the changes they produce. These changes apply to the individual themselves and anything within their immediate vicinity or directly related to their life and its day-to-day activities. The changes will usually consist of things becoming more dull and peaceful, with played down colors and calm day-to-day activities, or more vibrant and exciting, with exaggerated colors and dramatic happenings more commonplace. Periods of long exposure can increase the effect's influence, becoming more disruptive in life.
Central Narrative: The narrative revolves around the discovery of the painting and how those affected by it develop over time. The article will focus on two affected individuals in particular, a researcher who hosts the more "vibrant" effects, and a field agent who hosts the more "dull" effects. They each begin to experience greater changes such as having less action in the field or becoming a center of attention to coworkers. When the two are introduced to each other, the effects become muted, but making physical contact causes the two to be forcefully separated, leaving burns at the point of contact. After looking deeper into the painting it's discovered that some individual or group commissioned it from AWCY?, wanting to "lead others to the true life". It's believed that this commission even taking place was due to the individual asking for it either having some sort of pull over AWCY? members, or sharing an ideology that may somehow align with AWCY?.
Hook/Attention-Grabber: The article focuses on the ideas behind a dull life and a vibrant life, leading to exaggerated takes on both perspectives as the SCP's effects build up. The article also has a secondary hook through some unknown out there being behind the creation and a cause for concern.
Additional Notes: What I'd want most from reviewers is their perspective on whether or not this type of narrative is forcing in other GOIs and new mysterious individuals. I'm also curious on any takes or suggestions regarding how to intrigue readers with this sort of narrative.
