Elevator Pitch: A virus that affects humans, the older the host is the more severe the illness will be, it is transmitted by bodily fluids and anomalously affects the descendants of the affected people.
Central Narrative:
The virus is transmitted by bodily fluids, blood, semen, saliva. Affected people will start to develop boney growths on the top of its skull, these growths can take the form of skeletal fingers, deer stags, bovine horns or something different, but regardless it will always grown around the skull and ultimately be shaped like a Crown, each individual will have a differently shaped Crown, and not even twins will share the same design.
Once the Crown is fully formed the affected user will believe that it is a royal member of some obscure and fictional ancient country, the location of the country normally matches with the ethnicity of the affected people, American people of Danish origin will believe to be royalty of a country located inside or near Denmark, but in some cases people of a certain nationality will believe that their kingdom is located far away from their current location, even if they have never been in the same country or continent where these kigndoms are supposedly located, for example D-subject XXXXX of Chinese ethnicity believed to be a Queen from a small kigndom located in the horn of Africa, despite her or her ancestors never having visited the continent, or even mixed with people of African origin. Affected people will always claim that their country is the one of the smallest in the world, and that is why it is so unknown, if a map is shown of the area where supposedly their country is located the affected users will display either rage, indifference or sadness and comment that the mapmakers forgot adding their country in it. Their belief in these claims will be absolute and not even amnesiacs will change their minds.
The direct descendants of the affected people will also anomalously contract the virus and suffer a transformation and grown bone crowns as well, believing themselves to be princes and princeses. The crowns of these princes and princesses will be smaller in size and complexity. The instant a "King" or "Queen" dies its firstborn will take its place, and its horns will grown in size and become a Crown as big as its ancestors, this transformation is automatic and will happen even if the descendant is unaware of their ancestor's demise. These descendants will grow horns and develop crowns even if they are fully unaware of being their parent's children.
The virus also carries a cognitohazardous and reality altering effect. People listening to the affected hosts will ultimately believe their words, even Articial Intelligences aren't completely safe. The only way of continuously staying conscious of the false nature of what they are saying is routinely using amnesiacs. People that fully believe the lies of these "Royalty" will repeat them to their families, friends and coworkers and these will repeat the lies as well, spreading like a virus. Whenever XX or more people believe these lies the reality around XX feet of them will change, history books will include and mention these fictional countries, devices with access to the internet will be able to reach websites located in these countries as well. The more people become affected by these lies the more powerful will the reality altering capabilites be and the more spread it will have. It is believed that if the lies of one of these countries expanded wordwide the country itself would become real, and cause catasthropic damage as suddenly an entire new landmass appeared.
If two affected people encounter each other they might react in several ways. Many times they will simply salute each other accordingly and procceed to talk, exchanging information and tales about their respective countries. Certain times these two individuals might instead become instantaneously aggresive with each other and mention a nonexistant war between their nations. In a single occasion the two affected people instantly fell in love and bowed to marry to streghten their countries.
In one occasion the foundation experimented with their reality altering capablities. They had two hosts that believed to be Kings of a small islands located in the Mediterranean sea and Pacific Ocean respectively. Both Kings were particularly old and each had more than XX descendants and up to XXXX individuals that believed their words. They moved the Kings, the descendants and the people affected by their lies to where these islands where supposedly located and their combined reality altering effect was so great that the islands did in fact appear. When questioned about the island the people answered that they had always been there. The Foundation used satellites to observe and record everything, and to their surprise the satellites took recording of the island even before it supposedly appeared, meaning that the changes where in fact retroactive, and the island had always truly been there. The people living on the islands had documentation and by all means had always existed, inside of the islands they could enter facebook or any other social media and they would have pictures or other entries, outside of the islands thought, they did not exist. The families of the Kings and the affected people were moved to the islands along with a group of SCP scientists that went to study the island. The two Kings were taken to site XXX and put together. They amicably started speaking about their countries, and despite never having interacted in the past they believed that they were lifelong friends. Statements that one King did about its own country or the other King's country altered the islands with inmediate effect. For example the Mediterranean King said "My country has sharks, but they are like sardines in comparison with the great albino Megalodons of your island. It is truly incredibly and humbling how your ancestors managed to reach these golden coasts with nothing but boats." The instant these words where muttered the coastline and sand around the island in the Pacific turned gold color, the oceans became swarmed by massive sharks from a species that didn't exist before, and a cultural shift occured on the island and imagery of people sailing in small wooden boats became predominant. At some point, the experiment goes wrong, the Mediterranean King mentions how its island is smaller, and then the Pacific King replies saying that he's wrong, and its island is smaller, they get into a heated argument and go back and fort saying that their island is the smaller one. As they screamed into each other the real islands shrinked in size until none of them remained. The King's descendants died, and so did most of the people that believed in their words, and all of the island's inhabitants.
Somehow the two kings knew what they did, they started to cry and then they [REDACTED]
It is believed that if the virus were to spread worldwide and every single person believed to be royalty and all of its statements beame true then the world would enter into a XK class scenario as the countries as we now know them instantly get fragmented into countless of micro states and islands pop out everywhere.
Hook/Attention-Grabber: Corona means Crown in a couple of languages, and body horror is always nice.
