Seeking Greenlights: No
Page Type: SCP Article
Page Layout (Optional): The (current) containment procedures and description, followed by a couple of interviews and/or experiment logs. I'll possibly include the older iterations of containment procedures instead of interviews.
Elevator Pitch: Ever wanted the perfect night's sleep? Well, with this SCP that's exactly what you'll get (with tailor made dreams included). The Foundation finds a laptop and two humanoid entities that are connected/related to it. All three can give people any dreams they request (along with a guaranteed good night’s sleep). The laptop displays a prompt asking the user what they would like to dream. Whatever the user enters happens (so long as it wouldn’t be considered a nightmare for the person in question). The entities ask the same question verbally and respond to verbal, written, and even drawn replies. During the night, the laptop cannot be used and the entities disappear (supposedly to make the dreams happen), and reappear again every morning.
Central Narrative: As researchers do work on this anomaly, they learn about the nature of it and how it came to be (look to the hook). Through testing they learn that it does exactly what it’s supposed to do, according to the entities, with no apparent drawbacks. While working on properly containing it they find out about why it was made (but not the how, at least, not exactly).
Hook/Attention-Grabber: The two entities ‘attached’ to the laptop are the ones that made it. Their search for the perfect night’s sleep turned out to be successful! But it came at the cost of their free will(?) as they now serve what they call the God of Dreams (I may need a better title than this…). As time goes on, they become more and more obsessed with providing people with the ‘perfect’ night’s sleep.
Additional Notes: As I’m new, I just want to get a feel for what it’s like trying to write here. I’m sure that there’s already a ‘dream machine’ but I can’t think of anything else to call this for now.
