Seeking Greenlights: Yes
Page Type: SCP Article
Elevator Pitch: A small planet 9 lightdays away from Earth that is constantly changing its surface material.
Central Narrative: The planet is first discovered in 19██ by a foundation space telescope during routine maintenance of SCP-████, being 90% liquid aluminum. The unnatural surface material catches the eye of foundation personnel, but is not deemed anomalous at the time. However, just 2 days later, the planet's surface has suddenly become composed entirely of Elkhorn coral. The foundation begins monitoring the planet, and over the span of 8 days the planet's surface material changes 3 times.
After 4 years of monitoring, the foundation discovers a somewhat reliable way to estimate what the planet's surface will be made up of next. A voyage is planned, but is delayed due to a containment breach at Site-██. After several more months of planning, a mission is finally authorized and sets out for the planet on June ██,19██.
Hook/Attention-Grabber: The different surface materials the planet takes on over a time, as well as the logs of the foundation astronauts who go on the mission to the planet, and what they discover there.
Additional Notes: I'm mostly looking for ways to make the SCP more scientifically grounded, while not going against its anomalous nature, as well as how to incorporate containment procedures into this. I'm also hoping to incorporate a community document for others to add material logs to, in the same vain as Document 507-3B.
