Elevator Pitch: The Rifle in question, a Gewehr 98 rifle, is to be seen as a normal and a standard rifle at a first glance. However, when fired, the firearm augments the shooter precision and accuracy, resulting at each shots a perfect hit. This comes with a “down side” as if it is used toward living targets, the bullets will not only kill the victim but also the rifler.
Central Narrative: Produced and distributed in the german army, before WW1, this G98 rifle was owned by a young, short and not so courageous man, who enlisted in the army to experience what many have deemed an “experience” to live. Beside his weaknesses, many have noticed the man’s incredible accuracy and ability to hit any target at any distance. He was indeed recognized one of the best marksman and ranked Sergeant. But then the war came and victims were non-stop. On his first deployment, the sarge was head for an assault wave. Haven’t seen much action since his first arrival, he thought that war was going to let him experience fantastic feelings and make him stronger… but he was wrong. He fought for years, losing companions, one after another and as the war ended he decided to take his own life, as the desperation of the many lives he have claimed haunted his mind. His only words were: “be damned this rifle! It has only carried many despairs over my life.” And after such words, he pulled the trigger and shot in front of his commanding officer.
