This article was heavily inspired by a lot of media revolving around the Age of Sail and madness, mainly the Return of the Obra Dinn, The Lighthouse, and a fair bit of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Shoutout to the great critters who made this all possible, Oboebandgeek99, Grigori Karpin, chiifu, Marcelles_Raynes, and Ihp.

I like how you rationalised Kraken as something like a product of the feud between Scylla and Amphitrite, but I disliked the font choice for the report and the story-telling through the captain's eyes failed to elicit any proper emotion. Novote.

The Scylla and Amphitrite dynamic was a little lost on me since I never know about those two Greek figures, but barring that, the captain's logs were atmospheric, but ultimately felt kinda…flat? His obsession with the dream woman was way too under-explored and left me curious.

The beating heart needing to be dried out to keep the monster down, however, I found to be creative and interesting.

I'll leave it as a novote for me.

I agree with forbiddenquest on the font choice, though. Made some of the text a little annoying to read.

Font you choose for the captain's log hurt my eyes but overall very interesting concept i especially liked the way you explained the cognitohazardous nature of the SCP but the story conveyed trough the captain's log failed to include any emotion enough emotion this is important because logs are supposed to be written realistically i did not feel like i was reading something a real person in that kind of situation wrote currently novote.

At the risk of sounding repetitive, the concept of the creature itself is pretty great. The beating heart growing what it needs to take control of a ship and defend itself, and keeping the heart dry prevents this from happening? All fantastic.

The logs at the end were…meh? I think it's a combination of the formatting (you could just have a note at the top of the longs along the lines of "The following were transcribed from the documents found in the chest" and just format it like any other log entry.

But then there's the problem of the logs not really being very substantive. Too much information was given about the ship and about the characters and not enough about the actual SCP. Logs should flesh out the SCP, and stories should be saved for Tales.
