Uprated because I like it and the dog was a cute touch.
Me likely.
Just some spelling errors, though. But I do like the manifestations of the wronged.
So, does this 'ghost' every person who has been dead less than a year in the area it rains on? Because, given the number of different location for ghosts, it must have been raining a ton. I can't imagine they were able to keep something this gigantic under wraps: every couple of months they have to minister amnesiacs to entire towns worth of people.
I have to agree. Also, while the idea is interesting, I really don't like the idea of 'ectoplasm' - it just doesn't fit with the detached, scientific tone of SCP articles. Surely Foundation researchers would have tried collecting some and analyzing it? Even if the analysis reveals 'unknown organic compounds' or suchlike, it would sound much better.
Not bad at all! IMHO is's just asking for more experimental information, such as /e.g./:
- is there a correlation between the amount of ectoplasmatic precipitation and the number of ghosts? or other observables?
- what exactly seems to cause appearance of the long-dead?
- what are the physical and mental properties of the manifestations?
- what exactly triggers manifestation of an individual? Contact of ectoplasma with the remains? With the point of death? Something else?
- how would this work on dead sentient SCPs, especially ones who come back to life?
And many more.
Ehhhh… Something about this bothers me a lot but I can'tquite put a name to it.
I missed this the first time around, for me, the problem is terms like "ectoplasm" and "ghostly avatars of justice" but this isn't a bad idea.
edit: I gotta say I love the medium who came back to -brag- and the very subtle implication that he was dematerialized by the people he was bragging to, heh
Okay, seriously, what the hell is an ectoplasm.
if your reading this your gay
The one question I have that really bugs me is "How did they identify the long-dead serial killer if he bore no resemblance to himself?"
Piffy is an SCP Foundation Moderator, Lv. 9001 Squishy Wizard, and Knight of the Red Pen.
I like the idea, but it does have some issues, as highlighted above. It doesn't feel like the Foundation has tried to chemically identify the "ectoplasm", and I came to the discussion page to ask the same question as Pig catapult.
Kind of vague, but I love the concept. Also, I'd love to see someone write a tale about the MTF.
The dog died. Kind of. This makes me laugh and want to cuddle my dog at the same time.
I get all sorts of weird feels from this site. Also, I'm left with same issues as Pig and everyone else that raised an eyebrow at "ectoplasm". I actually googled it as soon as I read it to check and see if there were any meanings I was unaware of that weren't paranormal. My meager hopes were dashed when it turned out to not be cytoplasm.
Oh, and containability seems to be an issue. As is, this is technically keter until someone figures out how to keep population centers from routinely seeing (sometimes irate and stabby) dead people.
