Elevator Pitch:

A glowing red zweihander sword that possesses its wielders. It’s incredibly picky and rejects most who attempt to wield it. Rejected wielders die to something similar to internal bleeding caused by a dark substance with a similar composition to blood. Those who are accepted by the sword will have the urge to seek out “The Corrupted Gods”. There can only be one accepted wielder at a time. When said wielder is separated from the sword for a certain amount of time, they will die due to various versions of organ failure.

When used, the sword can do mass amounts of damage depending on the wielder’s intent, so long as the wielder sees the target being related to "The Corrupted Gods". This can be influenced by the sword. On its own, the sword does not seem to be able to cut anything no matter the amount of force applied.

Central Narrative:

The sword was confiscated from its previous owner after the destruction of a farm town in Idaho. The owner heavily resisted, but was eventually taken into custody and the sword confiscated. After a few failed interview attempts, the owner died from separation from the sword.

After some research, it appears the sword’s origins come from Germany and was taken to the Americas by an immigrant. After extensive testing, the sword appears to be made from a material similar to durable steel that seems to regenerate at a rapid rate so long as there is a wielder to use it.

Hook: I plan on highlighting the abilities of the sword, and then go into the story behind it.

Additional Notes: Any and all feedback is highly appreciated! This is my very first attempt at an SCP, so I only vaguely know what I am doing. Alright:

So starting off, you seem to have a general idea of what you want to write about in your article, this is a good thing and can keep the idea and article consistent through the narrative.

However, what is the sword trying to accomplish? What are "The Corrupted Gods"? And why is the sword trying to kill them? You should at least give some idea in the article about how these are related.

Also as a general note, stating that the sword can cut through anything, and that the composition is unknown, is a quick way to get your article down voted very quickly, as that can be seen as low effort writing. Might I suggest that the sword can only cut through material that the wielder see's as something related to "The Corrupt Gods", which can be further influenced by the sword itself? As for the composition, why not have it simply as durable steel that regrows when a new wielder takes up the sword?

To be honest, articles that revolve around relatively simple items such as what you've described have to have a decent story behind them to make them stick around and stick out on the site these days, and while its not impossible, it can be hard to do.

My advice would be to keep the article consistent, and not go overboard with unnecessary detail.

Ooh! This is incredibly helpful, thank you very much! I will throw that into my notes. I hadn't even considered the thought of the sword being an unknown material to be considered lazy writing, I really appreciate that insight.
