This has been edited! I left original things crossed out. That way old material might still be able to be used. New things are marked blue.
I had this idea pop into my mind, of an object or a location (still debating on that), which lets subjects experience a free fall. If it's an object, then it was discovered in some ancient ruin (maybe Egypt). Spekulated to have been given to [the Egyptians?]/ created by some supernatural entity, like a "god".
The subjects, if not removed from that object or location will (depending on the length of the fall) die because of impact. If falling too long, but removed before impact, subjects will still suffer from post-fall conditions, such as whiplash or similar injuries.
The free fall, does occur in the subject's imagination (there is no way of seeing if someone experiences a free fall), but the effects are very much physical. If a subject does hit the ground after the free fall, the body shows the exact signs of someone jumping off a plane for example and not being able to open their parachute and collapses to the ground immediatly after impact.
Story: More and more people die on vacation on a small island. Their bodies are deformed as if they had fallen from a very high place.
The island gets closed by the Foundation, but they have no idea what's going on. They send out research teams and several lose a good amount of researchers to the anomaly. Before their deaths the team members are able to explain that they see themselves falling. Both describe the ground coming closer and die on impact.
The Foundation gets everyone off the island.
They start having D-Personnel (equiped with cameras) search for the cause of the deaths andrealize that the anomaly seems to be happening all around the island.
I might even have the Foundation neutralize it at some point (still thinking about the reason)
I know, the idea is kinda vague, but that's why I'm here. I wanted to look for some feedback before continuing the idea. What are some things that definitely need to be covered (besides narrative, which I'm working on)? Is this even an engaging idea for y'all?
Thanks for the feedback! I'll take everything, so please be open with your comments.
P.S. I'll have some audio log transcripts and video logs as well!
