An object or entity needs to be released from containment in order to prevent a cataclysmic scenario, however due to anomalous criteria, the SCP proves to be incredibly difficult to remove from it's containment chamber.

The document lists several increasingly drastic attempts to release the SCP from containment, all of witch fail. The "Special Release Procedures" state how the Foundation is planning on performing a complex (potentially anomalous) procedure in a last-ditch effort to release the SCP.

It should be noted that the SCP could be easily destroyed and neutralised but the foundation intentionally chooses not to do so, after all, they are already breaking procedure by attempting to release it.

It's possible the SCP was intentionally presented to the Foundation as a form of sabotage due to their strict policy on containing anomalies.

The idea hasn't been fully realised, I just wanted to hear feedback on the base concept.

Your concept is interesting, however getting a picture of what exactly your going for is like nailing jello to a wall. It needs more description to review, dont be afraid to write a short article.

Yahmeskhan, the forum crit team prioritizes posts without any responses. Vague and unhelpful critique can prevent the original poster from getting the help that they're looking for.

This is a bit of a misunderstanding. I did not mean to propose they submit a draft. I simply meant it would paint a better picture if the author wrote a clearer picture of what this entity is, rather than what seems very vague. I will try to more thoroughly cover my reviews in the future.

The whole, reverse the general concept on its head is an interesting idea to me and could work well as a counter to the classic scenario. Looking at the idea, it's something I would certainly read. The main points you want to have figured out seem to be as follows:

My Points

1. An item that is inhibited in use by the nature of either its containment or the concept of containment period (if I'm making sense with this sentence). What are some possible ideas here? Atmospheric pressure, temperature, pressure etc. may seem boring but it's up to you. In response to this being a trap to the foundation, could this be an anomalous object constructed by an enemy of the foundation? Another GOC perhaps? Was there any obvious anomalous effect that it displayed in the beginning but secretly it was, throughout it's existence, suppressing something worse? Was the XK immediately apparent once contained or a gradual process. All this will be answered once you think of what the item actually is.

2. The 2nd part to 1.; a containment procedure that inhibits it. Is there going to be both containment and release procedures? Or just release. In my opinion, just giving release would certainly shock readers but I think that it's easier to have both in there just to make things easier to digest for a reader as containment is where it usually is. That being said, I think it would help to put release procedures first as you'll really drive things home and give the ready a moment of a twist.

3. What are they gonna do to free it? Is it a story of a sentient or even sapient SCP that actively doesn't want to be free, or is it a physical issue. The sapience will be harder to write but could pay off well if X is characterized and well written.
