Okay, so I've been working on this a bit, and I've since scrapped the original idea. Here it is anyways

+ Original Idea

[This one's a bit weird, but hear me out:

The SCP resides in one man - Michael Gerbaty of █████, Canada. The SCP isn't a thing inside him, per se, but rather the DNA in his cells, which were manipulated (maybe by the foundation) as a final resort, should everything go terribly wrong (much like SCP-2000). I could have some backstory of how he was a top researcher at the foundation, but got his memories wiped and his genome experimented on to create the SCP, something like that.

What the SCP actually does is, when activated via remote activation, Michael's cells will begin to convert into artificial stem cells, and they will begin to rapidly duplicate, growing in size with quadrillions of cells being created every millisecond, and then having those duplicate until eventually, the cells cover the entire earth, at which point every square inch of the planet will be covered in Michael. Then, from the mass will grow plants and fauna made out of flesh/keratin, and then Animals all resembling fleshy abominations, but with the proper designated brain cells, blood cells, etc. to have them act like their non-fleshy counterparts. Finally, humans will also grow, but all resembling the same person - Michael. The world will be covered in Michael, with Michael trees that make Michael wood and Michael houses, etc. The world will live on, humanity will live on, but only as… Michael.

It's also safe to assume that any SCP's still living when Michael is activated will be consumed by the wave of Michael cells that wash over them. Perhaps they would make Michael-y versions of themselves? I might have to workshop that a bit.

As for why the Foundation would design something like this, I'm not sure. Maybe there could be a narrative about "Wanting to preserve humanity at all costs" or something, maybe with hopes that after a couple thousand years the Gene pool will have been diverse enough to emulate life as it was before. Something like that. Let me know what you think!]

So, for the new and (hopefully) improved story. I have some points here that should explain what the SCP actually is, and what it does:

-The DNA of three people were edited through anomalous means by an unknown GOI.
-The DNA, when activated, removes the specialization from all of the hosts cells, turning the host into a large pile of Stem cells. The cells will then begin to multiply rapidly, causing a wave of cells to spread from the source. Any living organism with 46 chromosomes that comes in contact with the wave will be absorbed, and have their DNA changed to match the cells. The amount of cells acquired in the wave will extend the length of the original wave. Once the wave has stopped, things will begin to grow from the puddle of cells - grass and plants made of keratin, certain animals with human-like organs and features, and eventually people - all identical to the original host, who can and will also detonate.
-The cells main weakness would be fire, but only when it is in its post-detonation state.
-Only one of the three people has not detonated, and therefore must be held in a very large containment cell due to its effects. (Michael)

As for how the story can be told, I have some ideas:

+ show block

-Interviews with the surviving SCP.
-A bit of background into the GOI.
-A full list of all things that have grown from the cell wave (animals, plants, etc.).
-Recovery logs (obviously since they're basically bombs, they would have been detonated in a public place, to get the most out of the detonation.)
-Some insight into the three victims .

1. For the interview, I'd like to delve into the psychological aspect of it - how a person feels, living as a human bomb that can explode at any second. It would go hand in hand with the 5th idea as well, where we get to learn about Michael's past and his connection to the GOI in question. Speaking of…
2. The GOI. I'm (planning on) making a completely new GOI for this SCP, as I don't really want to pin it on one of the stereotypical "bad guy" GOI's (Chaos Insurgency, etc.) but I also plan on making it as mysterious as possible in order to make the reader ask a few questions.
3. This one I might find hard to make interesting, but I feel like if I throw in a couple "unusual" entities in there, I could spicen it up a bit. I also think this'll be the most fun part, to see what I can create.
4. The recovery logs will be a nice way to add some context to the SCP, and demonstrate its actual abilities. Since the bombs were detonated in public, it'd be fun to see how the SCP foundation could cover something like that up, if at all.
5. Finally, I'd like to explore the relationships between the 3 victims, as well as the GOI. I'm on the fence on whether I want the victims to be members of the GOI, or rather victims of it, which is mainly why I plan on doing the Interview(s) first.

And those are my ideas! Feel free to share your suggestions.

Sounds interesting, but some things would need to be addressed. The biggest problem I can see is the question ‘Wouldn’t there be an easier way to do this than create a world of Michael?’ Surly if the foundation can create this, they have a better way of doing it? Maybe I’m missing a point you’re trying to make, so don’t let this one stupid comment discourage you. Hope I could be of some help!

Yeah, that’s what I’ve been wondering about as well. I might be able to make a narrative of it being an unfortunate side effect or something, or I could spin it so that it was some other rival GOI that created the DNA and planned to use it as some sort of world ending device.. something like that. That’s one of the hurdles I’ll have to jump to make the story good, so I’ll keep thinking. Thanks for the feedback!

It seems a bit pointless to have it do the same thing as SCP-2000 when 2000 clearly does it better.

Perhaps you could make it only happen in conditions where 2000 wouldn't be very good, for example, if the Earth became filled with radiation you could say the flesh-michaels would feed on this radiation and then die off so 2000 can do its job.

I am going to start this off by saying the following: I like this anomaly a lot, I think it has a solid base for a narrative and the imagery provided by the description is creepy and uncanny.

Though with that being said, I think that your current narrative and anomaly is too much and they both need to be cut back. I would suggest that you maybe make the anomaly's effect within a kilometer range or something reasonable rather than the whole world. Along with this, I think you need to be careful with the "product of an experiment," as there are so many things like that. I suggest that you rework the narrative to make it more connected to the flesh and why he would turn the area around him into flesh, rather than the original idea of saving the world.

Yeah, I think I could do that. Maybe he’s more like a… bomb? Or something? Like a person who’s actually a biological weapon that, when activated, expands and consumes everything in flesh…? I might need to think about it a bit more. As for the source of the SCP, I’m sure I could find a way to pin it on some rival GOI. Is that a good idea?

I think this is a really cool idea. It gives me serious Akira vibes. But I do have a few issues:

Any living organism that comes in contact with the wave will be absorbed

Any non-organic materials that come into contact with the SCP will be broken down into pieces quickly by the cells

So, if it truly absorbs any living thing, it would cover IMMENSE areas really quickly, because it would absorb: trees, grass, flowers, wild animals, insects, birds, humans, microorganisms (like bacteria); and break through: walls, floors, dirt, water. Remember that unless this thing is sentient and controlling where it does, standard rules like gravity and matter spreading would apply. So if it breaks down any and all nonliving matter, it would just sink into the ground really quickly.

Are only humans chosen as new "bombs"? Would it not benefit this thing to just constantly detonate things all over the place to spread more effectively, like a flock of infected birds all exploding over a small town, infecting everyone? Does the GOI have any way to control this? What are they gaining from it?

I'm on the fence on whether I want the victims to be members of the GOI, or rather victims of it, which is mainly why I plan on doing the Interview(s) first.

Why not both? In cult situations, lots of people are brought in as "members" and then turned into unwitting sacrifices. Maybe they convince people it's an "honor" to be chosen and the Foundation has to slowly convince Michael that he's being used? I can see that you plan on making Michael and this GOI the cruz of the story, but what story are you actually going to tell?

Thanks for the feedback! I’ve thought about it for a bit and I think I have some ideas to fix some of the issues:
1. Regarding the absorption and what it absorbs, I’ve decided to limit it to only organisms with 46 chromosomes - so basically just humans and a couple species of animals. I’ve also decided to scrap the whole “melting through walls” bit, as (as you mentioned) they would just go through the floor, but also because I think it kinda takes away from the SCP a bit.

As for why the GOI is only conducting the experiments on humans, I’m still thinking about exactly why, but it’d probably be along the lines of destruction-size (a human is about the biggest thing that isn’t met with hostility (I.E. a bear, or something), thus causing the biggest explosion without drawing too much attention to the bomb before it detonates (hopefully that makes sense)
There’s also probably another reason, relating to the GOI itself, but I’ll have to work on it a bit.

And then for your final suggestion, I think that’s a great idea! I’ll be sure to do something like that, either pertaining to Michael or some other people connected to the GOI.
