About 60% done with a draft of a SCP that appears to be a series of interconnected teleporters (ie: you enter one and can come out any of the others). After rigorous testing, the devices were approved for emergency use, and placed at various sites for emergency evacuation. After damage to one of the instances during a breach, the low-clearance version of the file states that all instances are now non-functional.
However, the Level 3 Clearance version reveals the truth - that the teleporters are actually devices that deconstruct and reconstruct what’s placed in them. Basically, they clone the person and dissolve the original. The damage occurred to the deconstruction part of the device, leading to one researcher trying to evacuate and assuming the teleporter didn’t work, when in fact it created a duplicate at the other site but didn’t deconstruct the original, leading to the discovery of what the “teleporter” actually is. Those in the know are trying to hide that a lot of the staff are clones to prevent widespread panic and reassignments.
I’m hoping to explore ideas of the self and depersonalization. Also planning to include some interviews, with the duplicated researcher and possibly some others.
