I have an idea for an SCP. It is a quantum supercomputer that has the power to control particles. It is an A.I based piece of technology that has the ability to move particles at the speed of light due to its quantum capabilities — the A.I is modelled after the likes 0f SCP-079. The computer does not see itself as 079. However, it sees 079 as an older brother of some-sort.

The computer is significantly better at calculations then one of the best machines on the market in the 21st century. It can figure out answers for calculations on par with Fermat's theorem in about a second. The specifics of the SCP's Technology and capabilities can be found at ██████████.████

Typically, the SCP can fill an entire room with cables and boxes. Regardless of that limitation, The Foundation can fit it in a 20m x 20m x 20m room. SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a vacuum as so not to cause any world-ending\appolyon events with its abilities. The machine is to be provided with a 2M monitor, so it is able to express emotions through the pixels on the screen such as 079 (except in a more digital way).

That's all I have for now. Tell me what You think. In the drafts, I will mention others SCPs as to balance out these machine's interactions. Especially in series IV and V. thanks for reading and add feedback so I can improve on my idea.

References to series 1 SCPs are going to have some people downvoting your article on principle. I am not one of those people but Series 1 is an artifact of the site in many ways.

Blackboxing should be left to the draft phase. People critiquing your idea need information, withholding it means we have less to work with.

Does it need to do this? Does manifesting these extra electronics assist it in any way? How did The Foundation contain it in the first place if it can move particles at light speed? Even in a vacuum, could it not use its own particles to just punch a hole in whatever is containing it, or particles in the containment chamber itself? Does it have to physically touch the particles to do this? What is the range of its influence? Why do they bother to give it a screen, and why does it need to be 2 meters (roughly 6 feet) in size?

Crosslinking is a risky thing, especially for first-time contributors. Your article needs to stand on its own. From the How To Write An SCP Guide:

Act as if every SCP will be the first that someone will read. That means do not put too much in there that requires knowledge of anything else on the site. You are of course free to link to other articles on the site, but do so at your own risk. Too much of that and people will have no idea what is happening if they haven't read the other material.

This can be a very tricky line to tread because you have to include enough information that the reader understands why this test is meaningful for every additional article you crosslink. If you still want to pursue that, I recommend reading the Crosslinks Guide.

You have a lot of references to -079 here and it seems all you've really made is a modernized -079 with some physics powers. What about this really sets it apart from -079?

What you have currently is the "thing that does a thing" or "X that does Y" concept. An SCP article is much more than simply an anomalous item, being, place, or event. The true meat of the SCP is the story around the anomalous thing. The thing itself is a vehicle that the narrative is attached to. To give my best example from Series 1, look at SCP 093: The anomalous item itself is a rock that turns mirrors into interdimensional portals. The thing that makes this SCP shine is the story; the history of the dimension that it leads to.

There are other guides there that can be very helpful, but these are some of the most often recommended for first-time contributors.

General Notes

We need to know more than just "it's an AI that can move particles at light speed." What story are you going to tell - How The Foundation found it, Who or what created it and why, did someone use it to some end? Something sapient like an AI needs a personality; goals; a motive. (These are not all questions that must be answered, these are some possible narrative hooks.)

I also recommend reading a significant amount of the top-rated SCPs from the last several months, and focus on reading more recent SCPs rather than older series. Many early series SCPs would not last a day under current SCP standards, and a few are only still around because of their history with the wiki itself. (This does not apply to all early series SCPs, but many of these were written before the wiki's style had really been cemented.)

The anomalous object, while important, is not actually the main focus of the SCP. A good story, a compelling narrative, something that makes the reader feel something - that is the goal of an SCP article. What feeling do you want to evoke from the reader? Horror? Empathy? Sadness? You need to create a narrative around this object and its effects.

I am not saying this to discourage you, I just want you to understand the amount of effort that goes into creating a successful SCP.

If you can revise this idea with a story that you want to tell, we will be able to give you much more meaningful and constructive critique.

The anomalous item is the vehicle, the narrative is the person driving, the readers are the passengers. You can have the shiniest, most polished, most interesting vehicle in the world, but without the driver, the passengers aren't going anywhere. Where is the narrative taking the readers, and how is it getting them there?
