Alright, after the first round of feedback, here's the next revision.
Revision #I Don't Even Know Anymore:
The Sanctuary of the Fallen NEW NAME: Temple of the Gone is the ruins of a large temple located in what used to be an archeological site south of Jordan. Archeologists accidentally opened a rift to a pocket dimension containing only an area near the outside of the temple, the fixed and pristine temple itself and its contents. Government forces in Jordan were alerted of this and the Foundation swooped in afterwards. The temple is contained with a barbed wire fence and regular patrols around the containment perimeter. The above mentioned rift is opened when speaking the Akkadian runes scattered across the ruins of the temple in the correct order.
In this pocket dimension, we see the area remaining mostly the same, with the main difference being the temple having been reverted to its original form. The temple is not very large on the outside, only being 100 meters x 200 meters and a sign in Akkadian runes mounted on its entrance read 'Dead, Forgotten and Destroyed. Come forth now and face yourself, lest you become one of them.' Time flows normally, and the rift you came in closes upon entrance. Simply speak the Akkadian runes again to open it. The edges of the dimension is enclosed via a white wall.
The interior contains no ceiling, only an amber sky. There is no weather changes, and the temperature stays at a comfortable 25 degrees celsius. There is a door not too far from the entrance. The appearance of said door appears to change with each individual, but video recordings show it to be a mundane wooden door.
Upon entering the door, all video and photographic equipment ceases function. The person is isolated in a room, where they must face what they have repressed and forgotten. Should they overcome their grief and remembered what they shouldn't have forgotten, the door opens again and leads to the entrance again. People can spend as long as they need to in the room, as long as an active effort is being made to overcome what they have forgotten. If they actively try and repress what they have done, they never come out and instead become one of the many statues in the temple, being depicted in a state of immense grief.
Along the walls of the temple, there are messages from the ones responsible for this temple's creation. They claim to be a cult who call themselves 'The Cherishers of the Forgotten.' There are no records of their entire existence anywhere. They claim to have created the temple as a test for those who were to join the cult, which dissolved after the end of the Iron Age. As the numbers of the cult began to dwindle, the last remaining members wrote these messages to inform anyone of their story. They also inscribed the Akkadian runes on the outside of the temple to help future generations get in. They then made a deal with their deity to seal away the temple in exchange for the last remaining cultists' lives and the destruction of the temple in our realm. I might even make a GOI for this SCP. Time will tell.
There! How's this?
