An SCP that explains the contradictions between SCP documents, and brings new mystery to a new GOI personnel. Critique please?

My SCP-5000 idea

Here is my idea of SCP-5000:

+ SCP-5000

• Idea: phenomenon happened in a universe resulted in all the SCPs and their documents to be exactly the same as ours
• Contradictions between SCPs causing paradoxical effects. They become infohazards to personnel
• To contain the SCP, reviewing and censoring the documents are needed. This explains the mystery of why lots of documents contain odd censorship (e.g. date, location, name)
• SCP-5000 document will be part of the SCP. It'll teleport readers to a dimension. Anomalies cannot exist there so it provides a chance to review documents without harm
• Internet exists in that dimension so personnel can contact with the normal world
• A new MTF was founded in that dimension
• Infohazard example 1: When personnel reads something that he hasn't done before in a document, as the event has become reality, paradox causes memory shock to personnel thus brain damage
• Infohazard example 2: Sites can happen to overlap within the same space. When a lot of personnel read the documents and suspect the location, the paradoxical effect becomes more effective and so space starts to bend, and even causes SCPs to be merged into each other
• More examples will be listed
• The dimension is like the 2nd example. Space is overlapped with a site when the server from both places are merged, so there is Internet
• Main purposes of this SCP:
  • explain the mystery of why censorship is needed
  • celebrate SCP-5000 by summarizing other popular SCPs
  • start a new beginning by introducing new character
• The effects of the document and dimension are side effects and important tools to contain the SCP (All sites will be chaotic. The dimension gives them a chance). Therefore, they will be mentioned but not with long paragraph
• How the article is written:
  • O5 authorization logo
  • Normal SCP document elements
  • Addendum 1: welcoming letter - as said above, all readers will be teleported to the dimension, and so they will be forced to join the MTF. The letter is to welcome them and tell them what exactly has happened. One sentence will be "being too curious about the mystery of the censorship and so got punished to be here" to point out the topic of SCP-5000. Simultaneously, it will act as a surprise to the reader
  • Addendum 2: Site journal - progress on the reviewing process. It will mention several SCPs, like a big summary of the past for the celebration
  • An incident will happen. Normal site-13 merges with one from SCP-1730. People and other SCPs are trapped there. New character appeared and helped the Foundation to save them for the exchange of materials from several SCPs
  • A letter is at the end, written by the character, talking about he's lying to the Foundation and he's from Chaos Insurgency. Also, he'll say the SCP is his creation and more will be made for the Foundation as future party
• The introduction of the character is to start a new beginning. Also, I want to have some continuity between works, and the character will probably appear in my SCP game

What do you think about it?

My big concern here is that it kinda feels like you have two different things going on at once that don't quite fit together? Like on the one hand, you have an anomaly which causes all of the Foundation's documentation to be the same as the documentation on this website (I believe that's what you mean?) but on the other, you have an anomaly which teleports people into an alternate dimension with no anomalies; and it kinda feels like either could work but at the moment they're kinda, clumsily mashed together? There's also a lot about how the document needs censorship to prevent it being an infohazard but I'm really not following why that's the case?

Like I'm really not sure why reading the SCP-5000 document causes people to be teleported to a different dimension? Or why folk in that other dimension can use the internet to communicate with the standard world?

This letter is included because I kind of wants to introduce a new character for my SCP game in the future. (But am I allowed though?)

Like it kinda feels a bit too much like the Foundation just conveniently get a letter at the end which explains everything and it kinda feels…weird as an attack on the Foundation because it's not like, obviously dangerous to them? Especially considering they seem to be actively using it to achieve their own ends. (The Chaos Insurgency is probably a good choice here if you can like, actually convey why it's a threat to the Foundation)

As for whether you're allowed, uh, it depends? You can put the character in the SCP and like, make up new characters whenever you want (indeed, it's super common to do so). I'm less sure about what you'd need to do after that to ensure the SCP game is compliant with the site's CC-BY-SA 3.0 License (if you have questions on that, I'd suggest reaching out to the Licensing Team who can help you with like the legal aspects).

It's actually both the SCP item and the documentation being the same.

You can consider this SCP has both main and a side effect. The main effect is the SCP items and the documentation becoming the same as we have. The side effect is discovered later. When the scientist began to write the document about the phenomenon, he got teleported to a different dimension. At first, the doctor was too concentrated on writing and didn't notice he got teleported, and as there was still electricity and the Internet, the document was uploaded. More people read it and so more people were teleported.

There's also a lot about how the document needs censorship to prevent it being an infohazard but I'm really not following why that's the case?

Because paradoxical information was recorded between documents. For example, Dr. A has never done an experiment on SCP-XXXX. It was Dr. A from another dimension done it. However, when Dr. A read the document about SCP-XXXX, he noticed something that he hasn't done in this dimension before. But since the SCP and the document were now in this dimension, replacing the original one, the event was also happened to take place in the same dimension. Because of the awareness of the two different events (his original memory and the experiment) happening at the same time, paradox happened, and the information became infohazard. Memories of the experiments collided with the original memory inside one brain, causing brain damage to the doctor, or more serious, head explosion.

Another example can be about the location. Since different SCPs were paradoxical to each other, two different SCPs can happen to have one same containment location, which made space to overlap with each other. It may not be too much a problem at first, because the spaces are just overlapping, they are not yet bending together. Personnel cannot access to the one they don't know. But when people start to read documents, they start to be aware of the SCPs being in same location. Some people will start to think one SCP is true, and the other is false. There will be three groups of people, one believing in one of them, and another believing in the other one, then the remaining one still suspecting the information. When more people are believing in each one of them, the spaces start to bend, and create dimensional mazes inside site. For a more serious consequence, it can be the space merging into each other, which the SCPs also merging into one that cannot be contained with the current procedures.

Because the scientist will try to risk himself to record the incidents happened into the documents. As said above, they are paradoxical and infohazardous. But the doctor still had to attempt to record it for research purposes, and for deciding the containment procedure. Then unexpected things happened. The doctor and the others who read the document got teleported to a world that no anomalies can exist, and the Internet is somehow still accessible. This gives them a chance to review and censor all the documents before the conditions come to a place that cannot be reversed. The effect is kind of random. But we are talking about paradox. We don't know what will happen when a paradox happens since there couldn't be any apparent paradox in this world (or there may have but we just don't know.)

For why there is still Internet though, this is still a mystery. There are still things the Foundation couldn't understand yet. (But well, although anomalies cannot interfere with the dimension, the dimension itself is still an anomaly. So I thought it's OK we don't know why this happened?)

How about a party invitation card, and instead of a challenge, a party instead? I read that Chaos Insurgency's real purpose isn't really known. I see them as GOI that seeks for Chaos, as nature tends toward disorder (the science of entropy, right?). But the Foundation is containing the anomaly to protect normality from anomaly, which is like seeking for order. That's why the Foundation and Chaos Insurgency are enemies. (I didn't have read much so it may be completely wrong. If so, please tell me about that…) The new character I made is even worse. He tends to cause Chaos as much as possible, without any objective. He believes in Chaos is the way, and the only way of the universe. So he can create something that harms, and also helps at the same time. That's why the original letter is like an introduction to himself, a crime declaration and an invitation to the party because he currently sees Foundation as something that he can play with.

What do you think?

I mean it's okay that we don't know but it feels off? Like normally when something is in a different dimension, you'd expect things like the internet to be cut off and the fact it isn't is really weird? But it being really weird isn't necessarily bad as long as you can maintain the suspension of disbelief: my concern here is that you can't because it's too unbelievable?

How about a party invitation card, and instead of a challenge, a party instead? I read that Chaos Insurgency's real purpose isn't really known.

That feels really weird? Iunno I mean it could work but it kinda feels like this angle is unnecessary if you can like, really convey the actual story of the foundation trying to handle the like, paradox stuff which is happening here. It kinda feels like this section is too much about you launching a new character and not enough about what the character does and how they relate to the SCP? I'm not so bothered about what the character is like so much as how they fit into the story and here it kinda feels like they don't?

Which brings me onto my big question: how are you actually wanting to like, tell the story of the Foundation trying to like, figure out what to do with the SCP and possibly establishing a new status quo? Like, are you using email communications about it? Something else?

I see. Then, how about using this example of infohazard I made in the earlier response to explain the phenomenon:

The dimension is actually a space that is overlap with one of the sites (but it is different from other overlapped space that this dimension is created by the SCP, not replaced by other dimensions), and the space containing the server inside the site from the overlapping space is bent and merged to the server from the site in the normal world, which resulted in the intranet and the Internet are accessible. Since we have it related to the infohazard effect? Would it be more "believable"? (If it still doesn't work, I guess I will just say the Foundation has invented some dimensional communication device lately that can communicate with the normal world from a different dimension… If explaining too much, it seems kind of digressing to me…)

Why I want to introduce this character, is actually for future writing and game project. When this challenge/party is done, there will be next challenge/party for new SCP. I agree that it doesn't do much to the SCP and I currently can't think of anything to make it relate more. But I really prefer the idea of having relevance and story between creations, and make a bigger universe. And this will be the beginning for the whole thing. I really hope I can at least make some hints inside the document about the character… How about I make it into some kind of easter egg or something? I transform the text on the card/letter into some ciphertext, turn it white and put it at the bottom of the document. Reader could try to encrypt the text like a bonus puzzle. Then I could hint the character and make it less redundant. Do you think it will work? (If it still doesn't work, I guess I can only remove that part, and talk about it in a tale…)

Yeah, I mean that makes a lot more sense: you don't necessarily have to like, explicitly say that somewhere but hinting towards it being the case is likely to help people accept it.

I agree that it doesn't do much to the SCP and I currently can't think of anything to make it relate more. But I really prefer the idea of having relevance and story between creations, and make a bigger universe.

Like, not the creator who comes in at the end, but someone who's within the alternate dimension and like, is trapped there but knows a bunch about it and is willing to help the Foundation as long as they help him? You can start implying he has sinister aims there too: maybe he even created the SCP and accidentally got stuck inside?

(My concern with the puzzle at the end is very similar to a lot of my concerns: it feels like something tacked on at the end just to introduce the character rather than like, actually making the character relevant to the story?)

I see… However, although stuck in the dimension gives him a role, after some thoughts, I can't currently think of how the Foundation could actually help him get out when the personnel there could not… (If he can't get out, there wouldn't be next party) How about something such as "he joins in the fun"? One day, the character suddenly appeared on chat at the Foundation intranet, and claimed that he was the administrator of the dimension. He told the scientists that he noticed their teleportation and has observed them for several days. He said he could help them contain the SCP and escape the dimension, but there were some requirements. The character required the Foundation to gather some samples of several SCPs for him. The Foundation at first hesitated. But then a big incident happened. (I am thinking of site-13. The site-13 in this universe will have a normal site without SCP-1730 and the one with, overlapping each other. The neutralized SCP-1730 reappeared and merged with the normal site-13, becoming an extremely messed-up maze. The personnel there were stuck in the safe zone in normal site-13 space, plus the Foundation was worried about if the SCP in normal site-13 will merge with the entities from SCP-1730.) The character was aware of the incident and told the scientists that he could give them an instruction to lead the personnel to escape, thus use the same route to move the SCPs away from the site. After some discussions, the O5 approved the proposal. Materials were gathered and positioned at a given location (maybe the server room?). The character then provided instructions on how to walk around the site and what to do between different positions (the detail will not be in the document though. Maybe a tale for later). The personnel successfully escaped. The document should be ended here. However, a letter showed up at the end that the character told the Foundation everything was a lie. The SCP was his creation as a party to celebrate 5000th SCP going to be contained. Then he introduced himself and thanked the Foundation for the materials for him to create the next party. The letter was not added to the document by the scientists but instead the character himself, since SCP-5000 was his creation and the document was part of it.

Okay so putting aside all of the criticism so far: my big concern that remains is that I think the story is pretty interesting but I'm not quite sure how you'd tell it in the form of an SCP article: what's your plan for that? How are you wanting to show all this happening? How do you want to make a reader care about the documentation breaking?

Here's my plan for the article:
- First, an O5 authorization picture shows up. Reader clicks "get authorized" to open the document
- The document will be like a normal SCP article with item no, object class, special containment procedure, and description
- For the containment procedure, it will talk about the MTF will be divided into two teams. One team was responsible for contacting in the normal world. Another was required to review and censor documents in the dimension. When the censorship and review are all done, amnestics will be used to all the personnel. After that, it will talk about the document itself that needs authorization from O5 to read since it is part of the SCP. (Is this document part necessary though?)
- For the description, it will describe the phenomenon and the currently happening infohazardous effects (the examples from earlier responses + some other paradox effects from other documents)
- Then it will describe this document's effect and the dimension
- When everything is described, it will come to the Addendum part. The first addendum will be the welcoming letter. The Addendum will be collapsed without any title. It's going to be a surprise to the personnel who read it.
- For the content of the letter, it will inform the personnel they are in a different dimension. Then it will tell them they were either agreed to join the MTF, or being too curious about the mystery of the censorship and so got punished to be here. Then the reader will be welcomed and comforted that it isn't too bad to be here because it's not completely isolated because of existing Internet. The reader will be promised that escape method will be found after the SCP is completely contained. Finally, the personnel will be told to start working. But if he/she isn't really ready, they can look at Addendum 2.
- Addendum 2 is a site journal about the process of reviewing documents. It will start from the beginning when the dimension was formed. Its objective is to tell the reader about the progress and where to start. Several SCPs will be mentioned, plus the chat with the character and the incident of SCP-1730. Addendum 2 will be inside collapsible block of Addendum 1.
- Finally, the letter by the character is still in the end. The detail has been said above. But it will be hidden for the reader to find. I guess I will try to hide it with collapsible and make the text color of the collapsible block header white.
My plans for the reader to keep reading are the surprise and hopefully keep the whole article as interesting as possible. I hope this is enough…

BTW, may I ask what do you think about the object class this SCP should be? I think it may be Keter or Thaumiel. Keter because the SCP is not completely contained. Thaumiel because the dimension is helpful for containment?

hm. I'm really not sure about this: I think the idea of a SCP which is a set of SCP documentation which contradicts the Foundation's SCP documentation and causes paradoxes is a really fun angle, and I think you could really explore that in a fun way.

I just…don't think the whole angle with containment breaches, alternate dimensions and the character you want to introduce works here? It doesn't feel like it's an interesting addition to the article so much as you just, shoving as many things in as you can to make it more interesting?

It's also extremely heavily tied into SCP-1730: this isn't hugely a good idea because like, your SCP should standalone and not be reliant on other SCPs; and even if it isn't fully standalone, you probably don't want to make it reliant on a) one of (the?) longest SCPs on the site and b) one of the top rated SCPs on the site.

Hmm… Now I think about it, maybe I have talked too much about the document being SCP/dimension/character… And no, the phenomenon is the main part and it is to explain the mystery of why censorship is needed (this will be exactly mentioned in the welcoming letter by quoted "being too curious about the mystery of the censorship and so got punished to be here".) Also, now I cleared my mind up, as an SCP-5000 document, there are actually some other purposes that I want to have, which are being a summary of the past SCPs and starting a new beginning.

The document/dimension are just tools to explain how this SCP can be contained at all. Because every site is going to be chaotic, no one will have the time to review/censor that many documents. The dimension is just for providing them a chance to observe and write down the paradoxical effects caused by different SCPs, then review/censor the document, thus containing the SCP. I won't use a lot of words to describe these two components, but they are there because they are parts of the SCP and an important tool to contain the SCPs (from our point of view, it provides a chance for us to look at the SCPs). I will make sure only a small paragraph is written to describe them, and more focused on the phenomenon.

For the 1730 incident, although it's quite detailed in my response, no, it won't use a long paragraph for that part. Instead, there will be a lot of other SCPs being mentioned, with how the paradoxical effects affecting them. Because it is SCP-5000, besides the main theme "mystery", I want it to be like a summary to the past SCPs (although I can't mention everything, I will mention quite a lot of them). For 1730, it, of course, will be mentioned because of how popular it is (and also, how similar it is with the dimension thing). I also want to use the character as a chance to show unneutralized SCP is possible, but it won't be very long in the document at all (saying it again, if people want details, maybe tale for later). With that much SCP here, I would like to say it is an SCP-5000 Celebration Party (maybe the title of the document?)

Finally, for the character, his introduction will be like giving SCP-5000 as a new beginning, after the conclusion of the past SCP.

So my main objectives for the article will be explaining the mystery of why censorship is needed, concluding 5000 SCPs and starting a new beginning. But if that still doesn't work, I guess there's nothing I could do anymore…

Iunno; for me this feels like you have too many moving parts and like, things which don't quite fit together in a way that makes intuitive sense for it to work?

I'm gonna suggest you reach out to other reviewers, either by contacting someone in the Butterfly Squad or by asking someone in the IRC chat to take a look. I'm also gonna suggest you edit some of the more salient details mentioned here into your original post first.

+ SCP-5000

My idea for the SCP-5000 contest is a phenomenon in a universe that results in all the SCP and their documents to be exactly the same as the documents we all had on this site. Because of the contradictions between SCP documents, paradox was created and it became infohazard to the Foundation personnel. Censorship (black boxes, redacted, etc. for something like dates, names, positions) for the changed documents were needed as the special containment procedure of this SCP to prevent personnel harmed by the infohazard.

The SCP-5000 document will also be part of the SCP. When personnel was authorized to read the document, they will be teleported to a different dimension (site-5000) immediately (because the document recorded the phenomenon, it results in the document becoming a hazard). In that dimension, anomalies cannot exist, plus personnel there are not affected by any anomalies in the original world. They can contact people from the original world through Internet but cannot go back there physically. Therefore, a new MTF was found there and they were responsible for the censorship and review of the changed documents. But since personnel cannot go back to their own world (which is a hazard to common personnel), O5 only authorized personnel who rose their curiosity about the censorship of the document to read the document, as a punishment (and they will be forced to transfer to the MTF). This caused it to become a mystery around the Foundation why some censorship is needed for some of the documents.

The document will be written like a normal O5-authorized document first. Then in the addendum, a welcoming letter will be included with a site journal from the said MTF on the process of the reviewing of SCP documents (several other SCPs will be mentioned) to welcome the new member. There will also be another letter at the end which shows a GOI personnel (a new character, maybe from Chaos Insurgency?) telling the Foundation that he was the cause of the SCP, and it was a gift to the Foundation. It was a challenge for the Foundation and there will be more coming. That personnel will then become a new mystery of the Foundation. This letter is included because I kind of wants to introduce a new character for my SCP game in the future. (But am I allowed though?)

Here are some points after discussion with cybersqyd:
- There are three main purposes of this SCP writing, which are:

• explain the mystery of why censorship is needed for SCP documents
• celebrate SCP-5000 by having a summary of other SCPs
• start a new beginning by introducing a new character

- The main effect of the SCP is the phenomenon that all SCPs and their documents in one universe were replaced by the ones we have, and reading document causing personnel to teleport and the dimension are the side effects.
- The side effects are there because they are important tools to contain the SCPs. It provides a chance for the Foundation's scientists to record the paradoxical effects, review and censor old documents, and contain the SCP. It will keep as short as possible in the description since the phenomenon is the main part.
- Here are some possible paradoxical effects from the phenomenon:

Because paradoxical information was recorded between documents. For example, Dr. A has never done an experiment on SCP-XXXX. It was Dr. A from another dimension done it. However, when Dr. A read the document about SCP-XXXX, he noticed something that he hasn't done in this dimension before. But since the SCP and the document were now in this dimension, replacing the original one, the event was also happened to take place in the same dimension. Because of the awareness of the two different events (his original memory and the experiment) happening at the same time, paradox happened, and the information became infohazard. Memories of the experiments collided with the original memory inside one brain, causing brain damage to the doctor, or more serious, head explosion.

Another example can be about the location. Since different SCPs were paradoxical to each other, two different SCPs can happen to have one same containment location, which made space to overlap with each other. It may not be too much a problem at first, because the spaces are just overlapping, they are not yet bending together. Personnel cannot access to the one they don't know. But when people start to read documents, they start to be aware of the SCPs being in same location. Some people will start to think one SCP is true, and the other is false. There will be three groups of people, one believing in one of them, and another believing in the other one, then the remaining one still suspecting the information. When more people are believing in each one of them, the spaces start to bend, and create dimensional mazes inside site. For a more serious consequence, it can be the space merging into each other, which the SCPs also merging into one that cannot be contained with the current procedures.

- The dimension is created like an overlapped space similar to the second example of paradoxical hazards above. The server there was merged to the one in the normal world so there is Internet connection in the dimension.
- The welcoming letter will be like a surprise to readers. Since reading the document causes teleportation of personnel, only personnel who agrees to join the MTF or who are too curious about the censorship mystery are allowed to read the document. Then the welcoming letter will be telling them what exactly happened, and comforting them. A sentence of "being too curious about the mystery of the censorship and so got punished to be here" will be there to point out the topic of SCP-5000 contest.
- The site journal will describe the process of reviewing documents in the dimension from the start which is the teleportation, to a point that a large incident happens.
- Several SCPs will be chosen to be mentioned in the site journal to describe several paradoxical effects, for summarizing the past SCPs.
- The large incident will be related to SCP-1730. A normal site-13 was merged with site-13 from SCP-1730 made personnel there to be trapped. The new character appeared in the chatbox of SCP Foundation intranet and exchanged the instructions to escape site-13 for materials from several SCPs. This was made to introduce the new character, and the paragraph of this incident won't be too long to prevent focusing too much on one SCP.
- A letter will be included at the end of the document. It will be hidden by a collapsible block with a white header. The letter will tell the Foundation the character is actually the creator of the SCP. Then he will introduce himself, plus inform the Foundation he will continue creating more "party". The new character is supposed to be from Chaos Insurgency. The letter was supposed to be injected by the new character since the SCP is his creation and the document is a part of the SCP.
- The inclusion of the character is to make this SCP be a new beginning. I wish to make the character related to my future SCP writing and game project.

Here is how I will write this document:
- First, an O5 authorization picture shows up. Reader clicks "get authorized" to open the document
- The document will be like a normal SCP article with item no, object class, special containment procedure, and description
- For the containment procedure, it will talk about the MTF will be divided into two teams. One team was responsible for contacting in the normal world. Another was required to review and censor documents in the dimension. When the censorship and review are all done, amnestics will be used to all the personnel. After that, it will talk about the document itself that needs authorization from O5 to read since it is part of the SCP. (Is this document part necessary though?)
- For the description, it will describe the phenomenon and the currently happening infohazardous effects (the examples from earlier responses + some other paradox effects from other documents)
- Then it will describe this document's effect and the dimension simply
- When everything is described, it will come to the Addendum part. The first addendum will be a welcoming letter. The Addendum will be collapsed without any title. It's going to be a surprise to the personnel who read it.
- For the content of the letter, it will inform the personnel they are in a different dimension. Then it will tell them they were either agreed to join the MTF, or being too curious about the mystery of the censorship and so got punished to be here. Then the reader will be welcomed and comforted that it isn't too bad to be here because it's not completely isolated because of existing Internet. The reader will be promised that escape method will be found after the SCP is completely contained. Finally, the personnel will be told to start working, or if he/she isn't really ready, they can look at Addendum 2.
- Addendum 2 is a site journal about the process of reviewing documents. It will start from the beginning when the dimension was formed. Its objective is to tell the reader about the progress and where to start. Several SCPs will be mentioned, plus the chat with the character and the incident of SCP-1730. Addendum 2 will be inside collapsible block of Addendum 1.
- Finally, the letter by the character is at the end. The detail has been said above. But it will be hidden for the reader to find. I guess I will try to hide it with collapsible and make the text color of the collapsible block header white.

I really have to agree with cybersqyd here. I love the idea of an in-universe reason behind seemingly pointless data redactions, and it's a cool way to kind of poke fun at a trope that used to run rampant on the wiki. You have some pretty cool concepts but you're trying to do too much all at once, especially for a first-time contribution and the stiff competition you'll be facing in the 5k competition. The parts that really stick out to me are:

• celebrate SCP-5000 by summarizing other popular SCPs
• start a new beginning by introducing new character
• An incident will happen. Normal site-13 merges with one from SCP-1730. People and other SCPs are trapped there. New character appeared and helped the Foundation to save them for the exchange of materials from several SCPs

You are relying too heavily on other SCPs while also trying to launch something new. Don't get me wrong - I love 1730. I reread it at least once every 2-3 months. But your SCP needs to stand on its own two feet, without relying on references to established works. The fact that you point out other popular SCPs is really what gives me pause. Why not use the opportunity to shed light on some lesser known SCPs that you want more people to read? Regardless of your intent, many people will view this as trying to piggyback off of the success of other authors and may dislike/downvote on that principle alone. Crosslinking and referencing other SCPs is a tricky business even for established authors, which is the main reason you don't see it that much. It also seems like this is going to be a huge work, and you've gotta work hard to keep a reader's attention. I know things like 093 and 1730 are highly rated but I know a lot of people who see how long they are and go "man, really?"

#000 articles do not all have to be huge, groundbreaking, universe-establishing things. Short and to the point articles often do very well, and I think this idea would really benefit from some trimming down before it's ready for 5kcon.

I see… I guess I really need to replan this SCP a lot… Featuring less known SCPs is cool though but I guess I will have to do a bit more research before I could actually start writing the document. But the 5k contest submission deadline is near. It would probably be impossible for me to finish it before the deadline. I think I'll give up joining the contest but I will still continue this though. And I will still need a lot of help from you guys.

But before replanning, I still have two questions though:
1. Since you haven't talked about it, what are your opinions on the document/dimension thing? Do you think they are redundant?
2. For the characters, do you think it's only redundant if I continue to include him? Do you think him joining the event still not work?

1. I like the document/dimension angle a lot, actually, and the way it explains seemingly pointless data redactions.

2. I don't see any issue with introducing a new character, but whether or not it works is, like most things, about execution more than it is about the idea. If you can make the character feel natural, nobody will question it. If it's obvious that you're only trying to establish them for later use in something else, people will catch on to that.
