In a nutshell: A forest that ensures that if nobody sees you disappear into it, you become a part of it.
To add a little flavor: Picture walking into this forest with a friend. You're walking through it for a while and they happen to walk behind a tree only to not emerge from the other side, you try to find them and cannot, you call out to them but there's no answer. You search for a while but then you realise that you don't know where you are. You try to stumble back the way you thought you came but as far as you can tell it's just endless trees in every direction. You walk for hours, days, months, years? Then you find an unexpected clearing in an eternity of unending branches and leaves. For the first time in as long as you can remember, you stop walking. And then something starts happening to you.
The article itself: I want this to be an article of two halves, on the one hand the foundations discovery and understanding of the rules of this forest and them finding ways to circumvent them to better explore the area. I'd personally like to emphasise the idea that the forest will become increasingly predatory the closer to it's geographical centre one gets as I want to imply that something is hidden there.
I want to then provide a first-hand account of what it's like to get lost in such a place. This would probably come in the form of a journal recovered from the forest belonging to either a D-Class, an unfortunate researcher or possibly even a civilian who went missing years ago. I feel this would be a nice opportunity for a bit of emotion as well as some good old-fashioned body horror.
Lemme know what you think, or if something like it exists already haha.
