This idea is just in development, and to my knowledge, is pretty unoriginal. So, I understand if there's some issues on that front. I want to thank whoever you may be for taking the time to read over my idea.
So the main idea, if I’m reading it right, is a universe traveler, collecting countless animals to absorb into its own mass. I assume it’s object class would be Keter, due to its ability to travel through universes. But that might not be what you want to pick.
After the attempt to separate the male is successful, he retains some of the information sent to his brain while he was assimilated with the mass and is able to eventually recollect what it’s goal was, with only blurry visions creator not telling much.
I like the idea, if was human is connected to it, and he retains a bit of the entity’s plan or goal. Which is neat. It opens a whole area of possibilities.
As for containment, might I suggest a 15x15x15 mile wide concrete chamber. Or you can have it submerged in a underwater facility, under the ocean preferably. But that runs the risk of having fish join it’s mass.
Questions:
Is the entity limited to two of a species, or is it’s goal just to collect two but if it collects more it’s fine? How did the foundation even contain the scp? Maybe provide a transcript of the MTF contain the Scp? You could also have a interview log with the surviving human, see what he knows.
That’s it, this one might become a great one if you keep working at it.
Hey, thanks for the feedback.
I wrote my responses to everything in the collapsible below!
So the main idea, if I'm reading it right, is a universe traveler, collecting countless animals to absorb into its own mass. I assume it’s object class would be Keter, due to its ability to travel through universes. But that might not be what you want to pick.
Right so it collects two of each animal, going from planet to planet. I wanted to make it easy to contain to keep it from being Keter, but the process it must go through to collect the animals is so time consuming that it might as well be euclid.
As for containment, might I suggest a 15x15x15 mile wide concrete chamber. Or you can have it submerged in a underwater facility, under the ocean preferably. But that runs the risk of having fish join it’s mass.
Yes. I like the idea of it being in an underwater facility, where it's in it's own isolated tank away from fishes. This one makes the most sense for keeping it secretive since it's not some massive fortress of concrete that just appears, and would be better containment wise.
Is the entity limited to two of a species, or is it’s goal just to collect two but if it collects more it’s fine?
It's goal is to collect two, but out of curiosity it may collect more than just two of a life form.
How did the foundation even contain the scp?
As for this, that's what I'm struggling with. I was going to say if it were underwater gathering aquatic life forms, they located it and were successful in surrounding it in a temporary chamber while they constructed a more secure containment center underwater for it.
You could also have a interview log with the surviving human, see what he knows.
Yes, that was probably one of the things I was most excited about writing on when I added on the part about them keeping the human and him retaining some of the mass's thoughts/information.
Thanks so much again for taking a look at this idea, man. Some good questions to answer too, helped me develop it further.
Glad it help, just a side-note or side question, will the SCP be cable of speech? Because if so, you could also add a interview with the beast itself.
Will the SCP be capable of speech?
I considered this at first, but I’d prefer that it wasn’t capable of speech for the sake of mystery. If it were capable of speech, the human may be a translator of sorts. Only issue with this being that the creature itself at least in my eyes wouldn’t have too much character to it, as it has one rudimentary purpose for existing.
Not sure if you've heard of it, but this thing sounds kinda similar to The Hunger from the D&D podcast "The Adventure Zone". It wants to consume all life to free it from the unfortunate reality of being mortal, to "transcend existence". Might want to look into similarities with that to avoid people saying you stole the idea (Which is not what I'm saying)
In this instance, the creature itself doesn't consider its actions as consuming. It's gathering in its eyes. But I get what you're saying as that was the original idea I had in mind. I can't say I've heard of The Hunger, but I did hammer out a better motive and concept so on that front I'm not terribly concerned. (It's gathering them in order to save them, but this apocalypse is so many years in the future that it's going to lead to years of suffering for all of the creatures as they're kept alive against their will, attached to this creature while they're brought through the cold of space planet to planet to be surrounded by other creatures and eventually consumed in its mass without the creature necessarily intending for this to happen.) Thanks for the feedback though, I'll be sure to watch out for similarities!
I love this idea. What you might want to add here is maybe a plot twist - Would it cause an XK-scenario (ie: a scenario where the SCP Foundation has to go public in order to contain it) because of its size? How many people would've encountered it? And where would it have been found?
Definitely have an idea formed around the "First Encounter" part. I'll be sure to add that in. Thanks bunches for reading into it, I would've forgot all about those details had you not asked.
