First, a disclaimer:

THIS IS BEST EXPERIENCED ON A DESKTOP AND AN UPDATED BROWSER

There are a lot of moving parts here and we are only two people. There is a good chance that there will be bugs or weird elements, especially for those on older browsers and mobile. I've done my absolute best to make sure everything works for all readers. If you come across an issue, please do report it, but I do not guarantee that it will be fixed.

This has been a long time coming. Kaktus and I started writing and planning this for the GoI Collabcon. Luckily, we finished exactly on time…

The two GoIs merging here are the Church of the Broken God and Are We Cool Yet?, which is probably pretty obvious once you read it.

I really hope everyone enjoys it. The amount of work we've put into this is… honestly, kind of staggering.

I'm both nervous and excited to hear what you guys think.

Just a few Technical FAQ!

Q. Why can I just skip the whole survey and not put anything in?
A. While I wanted verisimilitude to be really strong in this, I also did not want to needlessly irritate those that may be re-reading the SCP or accidentally refresh. As such, you are not required to fill in any of the entries unless you want to. The Foundation may be keeping track, though ;]

Q. On offset/3 or offset/4, why does the "Submit for Approval" always give me an X?
A. These are not the intended way to get to the next "chapter," so to speak. I did not give people the ability to move to the next part that way as you would miss out on parts of the SCP if you did so.

For offset/3, you need to get to the end of the Survey, press "Submit," and wait for the link that brings you to the next part.

For offset/4, you need to click the right arrow until you get to the final page. It will appear to glitch and the final link will, again, appear for you to click.

Q. [Insert technical issue here]], can you fix it?
A. I'd love to! Just make sure to give me some information so I can do so. I need Device you are browsing on (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S5/iPhone 8/Windows PC/etc.), as well as the Browser and Version you are using (e.g. Firefox 68.0.2/Chrome 76.0.3809.132/etc.). For mobile devices, the phone version and the browser you are using should be enough.

Most of the real details and fun stuff is going to come in Woed's author post, so I'll keep mine short. Suffice to say that this is one of the most enjoyable collaborative efforts I've ever been a part of, and it was absolutely birthed fully formed out of the side of Woed's head like some kind of Roman god, and bless him for it. He is absolutely the best there is.

This is our entry into the collab contest. Hope we're not too late. Thanks to everyone who checked this out ahead of time!

I really wanted to give this a chance but it's unusably slow on my PC.

It seems you put style over substance and made something pretty to look at but a chore to actually read, every button seems to have a frivolous animation and as a whole it just amounts to a sluggish mess to anyone still stuck on a Core 2 Duo.

I'm on my work computer, which crawled out of HP's basement in like 2006, and I haven't had any issues with it. There's obviously a lot going on here, and your mileage may vary, but while this is probably more resource intensive than a stock page on the wiki it shouldn't be too much for a modern machine.

Edit: Also! Those button animations are just animations. You can just click through them if you don't want to wait on them.

Same here. The story isn't terrible; I'm not sure I like it very much, but it probably gets a no-vote by itself.

I downvoted because of how difficult it was to actually read the damn thing. Similar gimmicks have been done before with much less disruption. And I'm not sure story needs all these flashy bits and bobs, or even wants them.

This is really hard to read on mobile, including hovering, needing to click things constantly, and the pseudo-document background with text whose commas look equivalent to periods(???) and is difficult to read against the pseudo-document background. I tried and gave up after the first page of the first pseudo document.

I had largely the same experience. I’ll give it another try when I’m near a computer, but it’s very unpleasant to read on mobile. I would add lines of text being four words long to the list of things that make it difficult to get through.

Almost great. Mostly runs fine on a 2011 Pavilion on Firefox. Couldn't get past page 4. All the dropdowns on page 1 were blanks. Page 3 to 4 transition has a misspelling; desolved instead of dissolved. Not sure if that's intentional. Will check back later to see if I can get further.

I removed the css filters on those dropdowns in the hopes that will help. Please let me know if it does.

I really enjoyed this one. This feels like the logical (heh) conclusion to the “collaboration” theme of CollabCon. I read this entirely on my iPhone, and it works well for me (I may have encountered, like, one issue, I think, but it lasted a good two seconds and didn’t impact my reading). Also:

A green arrow painted on a lamp post pointed upwards. Individuals exposed to this piece directly begin to feel severe anxiety and self-loathing. Spreads to individuals who interact with these individuals

People have already commented on the tech details, so I’ll comment a bit on the narrative.

It feels… cohesive. With this many moving parts, that’s a hard thing to pull off. However, Offset 4 feels like it comes out of nowhere, and the escalation is all around a bit weird at times. However, the narrative presented is compelling and kept me reading, even if it didn’t make sense at times.
